I have finally decided to buy a Fortuner instead of an Altis. The thing is I cannot decide whether to buy the 2.7 Gas or the 4x4 3.0 Diesel. Price difference is 300k.
What do you think?
Thanks.

2.7 would be ideal for everyday use. if u prefer diesel then get the 3.0D4D. i doubt u'll use it offroad though
il go for the diesel 4x4... if thats the choice..
OT: nice signature M2 hehe
assuming you have no issue with the price difference, diesel.
pero i'm not sure if tipid yung 2.7vvti. i have tried the prado's 3.5, tipid siya...
medyo nabibigatan nga ako sa price difference na 300k... gusto ko lang sana ma sure kung sulit ba sya.. eh mukha atang hindi... in the long run siguro mas sulit sya.. eh how long yun?
If you ask me, since Altis yung plano mo kunin before, why not just consider the 2.7G Fortuner? They're both Gas VVTi's and 4x2's naman eh. Well, you're kinda getting something that you won't really need or get to use...Originally Posted by leigh861

you're still getting a great car though, congrats in advance :D
since you were considering an altis, the nissan x-trail 250X or ford escape V6 or mazda tribute V6 would probably make a smarter choice than the 2.7L fortuner.
ang layo naman masyado ng diesel 4x4 fortuner from your initial budget of <1 m for the altis hehe. you should look at the kia sorento LX turbodiesel 4x4, quite a value at 1 m, and it can hold its own against the fortuner in many ways.
even a rav4. those will outperform the 2.7L fortuner anytime. unless you really need 7-seats (do you? since you were considering the altis before? that's quite a big jump)Originally Posted by mbt
yeah.. pero loyal talaga ako sa toyota... never really considered other brands.... iba talaga.. yung resale value medyo importante for me eh... i ges 2.7 na siguro.. nag down na ako kanina.. hehehhe.. so excited na..
by the way.. ang gwapo gwapo ng white na fortuner.. ders one on display sa toyota otis... ANG GWAPO.. yun lang masasabi ko.. so we're getting the white.. hehehe
sa budget naman.. medyo kaya pa kasi papa finance ko sa bank.. heres what i got from the bank.. baka useful din sa inyo...
30% downpayment...
1 year for balance = 5% interest
18 mos. for balance = 8% interest
2 years for balance = 12%interest
ako I use a gas guzzling 2.0 compact suv, around 1.3k per full tank per week ang gastos ko, multiply this by 4 weeks. naka P5,200 per month ako sa gas. multiply this by 12 months, 62,400 per year. then multiply this again by 3 years (kung kelan lapse na ang 3 year warranty), P187,200.00 na. I used 3 years kasi that's time karamihan nag-iisip ibenta ang kotse, and magastos na kasi mag-maintain wala na warranty.
considering na 2.7 and automatic yun fortuner na gas, baka abot ako 1,600 per week. or if I follow the computation above, P 230,400.

I really dont rely on mileage/L specs to compute my monthly fuel expense. a lot factors can affect this anyway, such as my driving habits & "urges", my cargo, my passengers or even the weather as applied to airconditioning.Originally Posted by backhoe
if I am to choose between a gas or diesel fortuner for every day use, I limit my decisions on two things: average monthly fuel expense in peso (take note not in mileage/L consumtion) and of course, invesment. since I got used to spend 5k or more on gasoline on a 6-yr old compact 2.0 suv real-time 4wd, I'm estimating that a new 4x2 gas fortuner will still cost me pretty much in the 5k/mo or more range. now, if for example, I bought a diesel fortuner and I would consume around 4k/mo for my every day use & driving habit. I can save as much as 1k per month or 12k per year or 36k per 3 years. still this does not compensate the outright 300k that I will have to shell out for a diesel fortuner. would rather invest the 300k in some other income-earning activity and still I get to enjoy the "fruits" and benefits of owning a new fortuner![]()
regarding resale, I doubt if 300k will be the selling price difference between a used gas and used diesel fortuner once it hits the buy and sell newspaper ads. biggest difference perhaps would be 200k, but this is only true when the 2nd hand fortuners are less that 3 yrs old. after 3 years, ewan ko na, 100k or maybe less.
so tama nga na mas high maintenance ang diesel right? sa compute naman ni mazdamazda mga 10.4 years bago mo icoconsider na bawi yung additional na 300k.. based sa difference ng price ng diesel and gas yung ginamit sa computation.... ayun.. so i guess id settle with 2.7 na...
halos same price na ang gas and diesel 32/28
unlike dati 7 ang diesel at 14 ang gas...
pero mas matipid pa rin ang diesel in terms of consumption kasi ako sa trooper ko 3.1 TDiC 500 pesos ang 2-way ko pampanga-manila
i dont think makukuha ko ang same output sa gas engine
baka nasa 1200 or more ang 2 way ko sa 2.7 or a 3.0V6
I'm wondering why the 2.7 Gas isn't 4WD. The 300K difference from the 4WD 3.0 Diesel is really something to ponder. You pay more for the car and pay less for fuel, and vice-versa. It's really hard to make a choice here. It would help if there were a Diesel 2WD.
