1.6L DOHC
Bnew:
Altis E, J
Optra LS
Sentra GS, GSX
Mazda3 V, S
older cars:
Corolla Ae101-Ae111 GLi's
All Sentra 93up
All 323s
Civic EK SiR
not all 323, but only those with familia models, 323f and miata...
most series 2 sentras, civic sir, corollas, ford lynx(?)
A_Y di ba lahat ng 1.6L 323s are DOHC? correct me if im wrong even the box type 1.6SE i think has twin cams.
All Sentras starting from the series2 yes, has DOHC even 1.3L LECs.
Lynx definitely are DOHCs

Lynx/323 are all DOHC.
Almost all Sentras are DOHC, with proprietary timing chains instead of belts... I think MAYBE the box-types with CA engines are SOHC (long time ago!)
Strange that the only old Hondas with DOHC are the SiRs... even the VTis are SOHC... but those D16s make very good power, nonetheless, and have good fuel efficiency, even if they are lacking one camshaft compared to the competition.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
The pre-Familia 323 1.6 is DOHC but carbureted. AFAIK, this is also the Astina's engine. Corolla 89-92 1.6 GL also has carbureted DOHC. Hyundai Elantra is DOHC as well.
dapat ata question is which car didn't have a dohc engine.
mitsubishi lancer has never had a dohc engine for the philippine market yet.
unless it's an EVO.
Thanks for all your posts guys. appreciate it very much!
How do I know just by looking at the engine if it's DOHC or not? What unique construction does it have? Or there is none and it's hard to tell?

^^^ usually, the valve cover (not the plastic covers in the new car engines of today) is 'U-shaped' and the plugs are all lined in the middle of it. SOHC engines that I know of have the plugs' orientation more to the edge (CIVICs, Lancers)
Q? - DOHC's supposed to generate more high-end power right, I wonder why VTIs and the 01-02 lancers' engines have higher PS than any of the DOHCs that time (cept SIR)?

dohcs are more generous when it comes to torque. more flexible in top gear acceleration, requires less downshift.
The only answer to that is, "it depends". In general, if you have the SAME engine in both SOHC and DOHC, the DOHC version will have a WIDER powerband. But in practice, manufacturer's differences hold truer than the difference between DOHC and SOHC.
Nissan GA16DE DOHC vs. Honda D16 SOHC VTEC
- Honda has higher power peak
- Nissan has wider power band
- ergo, similar performance, despite differences in quoted power

Thanks Niky, I think that makes sense (wider powerband), two cams mean they can act independently to each other and thus may have a more flexible profile in a wider rpm range. (wo wo wo, is that me talking? what do I know about these things anyway hehe)
