Granting we take out the Isuzu Crosswind (SUV-wannabe).

My choice would be: the facelifted Kia Sportage (CRDI diesel 4x4 nice for the price).

Runner-up would be its twin brother the spec-up Hyundai Tucson.

Pero kung gusto mo talaga ng cute (as in small) , reliable (no major "issues"), fuel efficient (can reach 10 km/L), utility (as in 4x4 can go anywhere vehicle) then the Suzuki Jimny is it. With a 1.5M budget, dagdag kunti 2 na pueding bilhin--one for you and for the wifey...sweet!

One vehicle comes to mind.

Suzuki Jimny 1.3L A/T

Priced just under P800K (new) for the automatic version. Seats four people in relative comfort. Rated to get 10 to 12 km/L fuel mileage between city and highway driving. Its off-road capable even for it's small size.

Downside is it's a bit slow but that is not really the point in this vehicle anyway.

Its your basic no frills SUV that can actually go off-road, not like those wanna be off-road SUVs like CRV, RAV4, etc.

Also available in M/T for around 690K to 750K depending on trim level.

So for a budget of 1.5M... you can actually buy two!!

i agree with gerbo and ghosthunter - jimny! it was also the 1st thing that came to my mind when i read the topic. at pasok naman sya sa lahat ng specs mo. although baka bumagsak sya sa ride comfort because of its short wheel base and truck-based chassis. anyway, test drive lang solution dyan.

Well... all of those cars can do 7 km/l... on the NLEX. In fact, most of them will do 7 km/l in traffic.. as long as it's light traffic.

Fuel economy, though... the diesels usually win... but with the price of diesel swinging close to the price of gas, the CR-V 2.0 is once again becoming an attractive choice. Great fuel economy. Good features. And maintenance intervals for gasoline engines of this kind are much longer (10,000 kms) than for diesels (usually 5,000 kms). The CR-V has one of the best gasoline engines on the market today.
