Well today i just came from Blumentrett i looked around at the various surplus shops, And i got my eyes layed on either a Isuzu NA 4JG2 which cost 65-70k or Mitsubishi 4DR7 48k i couldnt find a 4JB1 but i saw a 4DR6 Turbo for 38000.I chose these engines because they are both 12 volts no need to convert electricals. Which do you guys prefer?how is the power from these engines? are parts easy to find?I will be putting it in my wrangler.I would greatly appreciate your opinions on these engines.tnx

I have the turbo version of the 4jg2 engine in my trooper and i can personally vouch for its durability-no problem at all at 140,000 kms. Of course if you're buying a surplus unit you'll have to carefully check its condition first. Good luck!

we have a good experience with our 4jg2 engine (w/ turbo). so far, genuine parts are available naman sa binondo/banawe. nasa 170,000kms na mileage nya pero ganda parin ang performance. we already change the timing belt, water pump, tensioner bearing just for preventive maintenance.

Sir gary the 4DR7 is 2.8 NA diesel 88hp *3600rpm. It only cost 46-47K in blumentrett. The toyota 2LTII cost 40-45k. I was wondering how will the 4DR7 perform with my hilux differential? Its only a 2wd.I also like the 2LT but i am afraid of the overheating problem..Does the 2LT realy have a bad reputation?Or is it just a misunderstanding or defective cooling system? The best thing i like about the 4DR7 is its low end tourqe and timing gears.

just added info, 2LT engines use high pressure cooling systems, kailangan nila ang matigas na pressure cap... more than 0.9 lbs. rating

4DR7s are workhorse engines of Mit. Canters 2.0...low speed, you can barely use the 1st gear. maingay ang transmission (low helical angled gears) ...ask for parts availability

long-stroke engine ang 4dr7 malakas ang makina.. it depends na lang sa trans. at defrential kung mag match ito sa makina.. tsaka ndi naman ganun kaingay ang trans. nito.

    I have a Mits. 4dr7 engine mated with a 4d32 tranny.

Anybody here know what the valve clearance for the 4dr7 is?

Can't seem to find full specs on the webfor this engine kasi.. TIA

Honestly ngayon ko lang nalaman yan 4DR7. Mitsubishi ba yan? Kung 40-45K budget mo then get a 4D56 tdic engine. Marami parts, simple i-maintain. The 4JG2 is also a good engine but mas mahal and piyesa hindi ganun karami compared sa 4D56 (pero meron naman). Yung sa 2L na engine just change the thermostat and make sure the cooling syst is working well and you will avoid the cracked cylinder head problem.

Yes sir gary its Mitsubishi its there model which goes against the Isuzu 4JB1. How about the Toyota 2LT?Is it a good performer? If i get a 2LT will it be possible to put a intercooler on?

you can place an intercooler on any td motor. space lang ang limitation. You can get a 4D56 na tdic na.

hi to all. i drive an FJ40 land cruiser model 71. i took out its F engine fuel consumption problems as it had already reached the 6km/l mark. i replaced it with a mitsubishi 4dr7 engine mated with a mitsubishi jeep tranny. the engine performs well. even with the 3.7 differential, it still has a good acceleration. i suggest that if the engine were to be put on a wrangler, it be mated with a mitsubishi jeep tranny, with transfer case, and a 4.11 differential. the fuel consumption of the 4dr7 engine is superb, 14 km/l.

    Sir yellowjip,
I have an Isuzu Trooper '84 model (local not Subic) w/ C223 N/A engine. Just want to ask kung meron ka nakitang transmission for the C223 engine dyan sa Blumentritt kasi po medo palyado na yung tranny ko...bungi na yata yun teeth or spline sa loob ng tranny. How much po kaya yun? May I also ask kung na-repair pa yung tranny ko and is it worth the cost?

Hoping for your kind help and feedback pls.

sir bong,i noticed when i was walking around blumentritt i didnt see any c223 engines nor transmissions.I would advise you to get the transmission checked by a mechanic and find out what the problem is.if you can get parts at a resonable price to remedy the problem just replace the parts, but since the c223 4wd is not a very common engine it might be hard to find a replacement tranny especially 4wd. but do look around you might get lucky.
