Bang for the Buck SUV/MPV Vehicle

Hi Tsikot Community,

First of all, very basic lang ang alam ko sa koche. When it comes to deciding which one to purchase and the pros and cons, wala akong idea. That's why I'm here to ask for advice and consultations from the gurus here. Basically, simple lang gusto ng mom ko.

She wants a car na mataas and for everyday use para if ever bumaha (which often is experienced here in Manila), safe and mataas ang car. This car is used mainly for city driving and very seldom we go out of town. Probably once or twice a year. Farthest na yung baguio.

Here are some of the options we have in mind:
Suzuki MPV
Kia Sportage
Kia Carens
Toyota Innova
Toyota Rav 4

Would really appreciate your inputs. Budget is from 800K-1.2M only.

Toyota Innova is your best option in your list. The RAV4 will not fit your budget.

From your list, I would also agree with the Innova due to:

A. It is reliable
B. The height is good enough since it was based on the hilux.
C. It can seat 7 people.
D. The diesel variant is a miser ifuel consumption.

I think you are referring to the Suzuki APV right? From your list, I don't have any exprience with the Kia vehicles. We have both the petrol and diesel variants of the Innova and I prefer the diesel as a go-to car. The Suzuki is ok as well but maintenance costs might be higher. The RAV4 is a bit above your proposed budget.

best pa din un Innova, or if you want 2nd hand Rav4 para medyo maporma kaso mommy mo gagamit pala peace of mind kasi un brand new wala iisipin, dun ka na sa brand new Innova

Thank you for all the replies. First choice ng mom ko is actually the Innova. Ang worry ko lang is luma na kasi yung model ng innova diba? Wala ng bago na lumalabas na may major changes.. Pero baka nga we will go for innova..

Mas maganda yung current model ng innova natin ngayun kumpara sa darating na new innova IHMO .

May advantage din ang pag bili ng "lumang" modelo.
- naayos na nila lahat ng mga problema
- kumpleto na sa accessories
- madami na meron, meaning, madami na parts available at madami na din talyer na kaya mag ayos sa labas ng casa

Kung kelangan nyo naman yung sasakyan agad, sa current Innova na. Kasi kung hintayin nyo yung upcoming all-new Innova, kung meron man bagong technology dun, baka hindi pa subok. Baka madami pang mga issues, kasi nga all-new model. (not sure kung meron kasi bagong technology, hindi ko sinusundan ang development ng Innova). Basahin nyo yung mga threads sa ibang sasakyan na mga all-new models. Meron sila mga issues na hindi pa din maayos hanggang ngayon.

With the release of the new Innova just around the corner, one downside you do have to consider is the depreciation of your new car. If you decide to buy and flip after a little while, it will cost you. It's the equivalent of buying an Innova a year older in terms of depreciated value. However, if you decide to keep it for a while, depreciation won't matter.

Anyway, have you considered the Subaru XV, it is very slightly above your budget and is cheaper than one of your choices. It has a higher ground clearance than a fortuner (8.7 is to 8.6)
The visibility of a Kia Sportage may be an issue (but it has a 5 year warranty)
If all you want is simple, nothing can beat an Innova or a Carens(also 5 year warranty)

Dont get a crosswind as a city car because its an ASBU favorite
