March 4th, 2006 08:53 PM #1To all Charade enthusiasts out there, kindly enlighten me as to the good points of owning one. I'm really considering buying a Charade unit but I just want to be more educated as to its performance and maintenance. What year makes are within the P80,000 - P90,000 budget (excellent condition/ minimal-nothing to fix state)? Your biased opinions will be most appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. I am currently looking for one.

I had the privilege to own a 2-door 1992 model for more than 5 years but unfortunately I have to sell it last year since medyo lumalaki na family ko.
It was great having one. Never ako nagsisi when I had it. IMO, it was far better than Kia Pride/CD-5 nung time nila. I liked the size to weight ratio kaya madali i-handle. As for the parts, di naman ako nahirapan maghanap ng parts, dami available locally and some OEM parts, pede replacement ung sa Toyota since sister company nya ito.
As per your question, ung price range between 80-90k, IMO, mga model '95 model below makukuha mo. Pero depende din, like kung nakasetup or may mga add on accessories, definitely iba na pricing nun. Like for me, I sold it 75k late last year, with a/c, newly painted & overhaul, mags, and cd sounds to name a few.
If you want, check out mo ung Daihatsu Club, dami forums dun re Charade, may mga for sale din dun....CHECK IT & AM SURE, YOU'll GET A LOT OF INFOS THERE!

March 5th, 2006 08:54 AM #4Thanks for the inputs (AG4 and vhenok)! I'm going to use the car kasi pang-fieldwork which means I want a car that's easy to maintain and mura yung parts. Kumbaga basic running necessities lang and madali ma-pinpoint ung mga masisirang parts. That's why Im thinking of a Charade kasi madali din itulak mag-isa if ever tumirik. Hehe. BTW, what's the latest model of Charade out there? Are there any 95 up models? If hanggang 95 lang mga models nila, is it still better to get a 95 Charade than say a 98 Kia Pride? Thanks.

If we're talking 95 vs 98, then the Pride is a bit better... more parts availability... but the Charade is also rather easy to maintain.
And I can vouch for solo-pushing... that thing is very light.
Was going to buy one before as a commuting car (naawa ako sa RS dati... 5 days a week ng 150 km + ) but couldn't find one I liked... plus, puro highway ako... medyo bitin sa birit.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Maintenance-wise, madali lang i-handle Charade. Dito nga ko natuto kumalikot ng oto and also yung PMS, puro DIY ko na. Imo, this is a good practise car if you wanna develop your technical skill.
Also, performance wise, far better naman itong Japanese made na Charade. Fuel consumption is very good as it is only 3-cylinder engine.
Sir moysi, fieldwork ba? Oks din ito, kasi in my five year experience, yung apat na taon is gamit ko sya when I do maintenance work sa field office namin dati located in Luzon sa Regions 2 3 & 4 kaya husay din ito sa hiway driving. As far as i remember, city driving was 12km/li while out of town trips gives me 16-18km/li dati, which is until now wala pa ko na-drive na ganito ka-tipid.

punta ka sa
http://dcp.drive.to
daihatsu club website to.
