so as the title says, i went in to a dealership to trade in my old car for a brand new one.

the casa had a discount promo which i wouldnt qualify for this if i traded-in my old car, so the salesperson helped in selling my old car to an outside buyer and thus still qualiffied for the casa discount.

i offered to give a commision on the car sale to the sales person but it was declined, service daw nila yun.

i feel bad about it, whats the usual practice on this?

If you feel generous, bigyan mo na lang ng tip.

Pero yes, malamang meron na syang cut dun sa sale outside.

Saka trading in your old car sa dealer is always below market value Yun kukuhanin nila.

    my guess is,
they already were well-compensated from the deal.

if you want to know just how well, you but have to find out the fair market value of that used car of yours.

i am not saying you got played
i am saying, this is the cost of doing business.
would you have been willing to invest time and patience in selling that car, yourself?

bank financing. it was good enough considering ive been trying to sell the old car for atleast 300k for months already, and if i traded it in with the casa i wouldnt have gotten more than 250k for it and wouldnt get the promo discount too.

    they always have.
except for newer cars that they re-sell in their "almost-new-warrantied-cars program", casas do not buy the trade-in cars. they only sell brand new cars and offer maintenance and repair services.
they have a stable of bayan sellers that they pass the cars on to.
those used-car dealers? many of them get their cars from the casas' traded-ins.

from what i understand, subaru was offering 100K discount promo on certain models, whether or not trade-in was involved.
the article i read, mentioned up to 200K discount for some models.
but i am happy for TS's deal. "hassle" is something many folks do not know how to put a price to.

    Subaru discounts:
    Forester 150T
    XV 80T
    Outback 200T

Subaru normally gives 80T discounts ...

2009 Honda Jazz market value is 350T-400T ...
