    Hello,

1.4L 4 cylinder.

i think 2012 models still at 300k range eh.. pero maganda yung top of the line nyan

My friends own sonata 2014, aircon ang naging prob… and when talked, sabi niya commond daw sa korean cars kia/hyundai yung aircon issue… i think may group din yan sila na pwede ka mag inquire about kia…

With regard to the price, lugi nga if you buy bnew na korean car kasi mababa market value nila para sa mga used cars if you plan to sell it… jap cars yung mataas market value sa atin lalo na yung t badge…

You know the owner?

hmmm napaisip ako dito. maybe the owners expected too much from the 1.4L engine. Even if it consumed like a 1.6L engine. the cost shouldn't be that much.

were they expecting 8km/l but are just getting 7km/liter?

and when they got a new car(they sold their kia), they're probably still getting 7km/liter. LOL

    i vaguely recall an article.
it quoted 6.5 km/li in the city, and 16 km/li on the highway.
but i do not recall if the engine was a 1.2 or a 1.4.

    update:
    it's a 2012-2016 kia rio hatch with 4AT and 1.4 engine.
at that time (2017), the used car rate was about 380K.

    Thanks sa mga reply Bossing,

Nagtataka lang kasi ako yung 2014 Kio Rio HB model nya playing around P320k to P340k lng. Compare to other 2014 car models.

japanese brands (toyota, mitsubishi, honda) can command a higher used-car price than the non-japanese brands, because of reputation, real or imagined.

I like the styling of the Rio! I think it's a cool small car.

As for reliability, might be better to ask in Kia specific forums.

    Kia owner's club UK:
Rio | Kia Owners Club Forum

I also found a local Kia Rio Club/Regsitry on Facebook but the last post in that page was from 2019.

Only way to know is having the fluid changed and having the mechanic look for metals. Low mileage ba yun prospect? Nabaha siguro. Sellers will not admit but they might agree to some tedious inspections.

I own one. Depends kung anong model habol mo. I think based on the price you posted, yun UG model which is around 2012-2018 na release.

Design wise, maganda talaga kasi former Audi designer nag-pen nito. Pero like any car, may issues sya. Cons are:

    1. Power steering motor - Most occasions, lumalagutok sya at tumitigas ang manibela. You need to replace the electric power steering motor and it may cost around 15k to replace it. Lucky enough, there are a few specialists that refurbish these motors for half the price lang. Home service pa.
    2. ECU - I seen a few cases of the transmission gets stuck that 3rd gear. Parang limp mode. Kailangan palitan ang ECU and there are some specialist again that sells refurbished units.
    3. Aircon - most common fault is a defective ECV valve.

    1. Generally a reliable car and I haven't had any major problems, specially on the engine and underbody.
    2. They also share parts with the Hyundai Accent so parts are easy to come by.
    3. Very practical ang hatchback.
    4. Cool air-con.
    5. Fun to drive, pogi pa! At magalang sya (you'll find out once you own one).

If ever can you share were you took the car for repairs? Kung eto lang and very repairable naman agad yung kotse and not so expensive repair. Baka sumugal nko and get me one for myself.

Yung ECU issues is if the car ran into floods and ECU got wet? or pag engine wash it might also the culprit? Any idea on how much is the ECU?
Saan po meron refurbished power steering motor?
Any idea po how much ECV valve?

If ever ok naman yung car na nakuha, is it still recommended na replace na agad yung mga CONS in your list?

    Salamat Boss sa reply.

Only the power steering issue. There is a Kia Rio group sa Facebook and its very active. There are a few shops they recommend and I contacted one and they went sa bahay (galing sila Bacoor, taga Pasig ako) and replaced the power steering motor with a refurb one for half the price of a new one, inclusive of labor na yun. So far good pa naman sya.

My car is 6 years old. So far easy to repair nga sya kasi nga malakas yun FB group in recommending parts and places to have it fixed. There are 2 or 3 places that does the refurbishing of these parts. Specialist na sila sa Rio and Accent so reliable naman sila as alternative service centers.

As for the ECU and ECV, no idea of the prices pero I guess affordable naman. I heard nga sobrang buga ng engine wash can cause the problem. I don't think na baha will cause it kasi mataas naman placement ng ECU.

I would highly recommend that you buy one. Alamin mo lang history ng car baka pina-ayos na nila any of those, but I do not recommend replacing all of them once you buy one. At least you know what to do kapag na-encounter mo na itong issues.

Thanks for the quick reply, ilang kilometers na yung Rio hatch nyo?

The group name is Kia Rio Club Philippines ( OFFICIAL ).

My only comparison that I can do is versus a Honda City na 1.5L. Kasing lakas nya yun 1.5 maski 1.4 lang sya, so you can consider it na malakas rin. But its not really a big issue.
