A 1st gen bmw z4. But you can buy a brand new sports car with your budget. 86/BRZ/MX-5/Genesis Coupe/Kia Forte Koup

The question is: How much money do you have for maintenance?

1.9m will get you a Porsche 911 996 (Scrambled egg headlight). But you'd better be ready for the high maintenance costs, and the possibility of intermediate shaft failure or the necessity of upgrading the shaft and/or deleting it.

You can also get a Boxster (same issues... similar high costs).

You can also get a whole bunch of less exotic machinery.... Evos, STIs, 350Z/370Zs, Z4s, SLKs, etcetera... of varying conditions and costs.

Or you can spend that money on a brand new Miata, enjoy three years of free service and cheap gas bills, and be done with it. Or if you want more power, go for a BRZ or Genesis V6 (easily as quick as a 350Z). Or even a new WRX (a much more refined car and a better chassis than the old ones).

1) Latest MX-5. Lightweight rear wheel drive. Most reviewers rate it better than the 86/BRZ, although the MX-5 is more on grip rather than slip. Slip is what makes the 86/BRZ fun. Still, the lap times don't like and the MX-5 produces better lap times than the 86/BRZ according to reviewers.

2) Impreza WRX. All-wheel drive. Just under 300 HP. Not exactly a sports car, but it has incredible traction and speed. Can easily do 0-100 kph in the lower 5 seconds area on just 95 RON. Can go under 5 seconds with higher octane fuel. Few would dare challenge you on the expressway with this.
