Pls Advice on buying a 2nd-hand Car

I'm excited because to tell you frankly..this will be my first car...and since this is my first car...i really don't know what are the things I need to look for in buying a second hand car...specially the documents i need to get from the seller...natatakot yung misis ko na bka pagkabili namin e, harangin na lang kami ng TMG at sabihing CARNAP yung sasakyan ...so pls advice me of these following querries;

1. What are the documents i need to ask from the seller?

2. How do i know kung fake yung OR/CR nung kotse? (wala n kse sticker sa windshield, sa plate na lang...nilinis daw kse nya kaya nasira yung sticker)

3. What do i need to know in terms of the cars performance/engine/tires/etc...

4. When i tested the SHIFT of the car,..kahit nk-todo na yung baba ko sa clutch, parang ayaw agad pumasok nung kambyo...(sbi nung seller..normal daw yon kse di daw umaandar --- di ko pa na-test drive)

5. In test Driving,..what are the things I need to look forward to.

6. Optional lang ba o dapat kasama yung 5th and reserve mags/wheel?

7. What can you say about the car? Is it a good deal at 260?

Psensya na po talaga kung masyado maraming tanong..as in first time ko po talaga magkakaroon ng oto...(owner-type jeep lang po gamit ko and the setup there is very very simple compared to a car)

my thoughts exactly. when i saw that, i browsed through the list, but did not see a turbo anywhere. turbo timer without a turbo, now i've seen it all.

for me, very important yung maintenance record niya, try to check kung lahat ng preventive maintenance niya ay ginawa sa honda mismo... i just hope na hindi yan dinoktor

to determine whether hindi fake mga OR or CR, you just have to check with local authorities about that...

dun sa question #4 mo, medyo nakakaduda ah... kahit off ang engine, dapat ang kambyo nag eengage din when clutch pedal is depressed.

when upgrading mag wheels, it is often not necessary na pati spare tire i-upgrade, unless malaki budget niya para dun, pero more important talaga dapat may spare tire kahit man lang naka original mag wheels...

Turbo Timer??

Pinakita nya skin yung gadget na kinabit nya....

what it does is it automatically shuts the engine down after specified time...sabi nya, for example daw, nag-long drive ako...it is not advisable to turn off the engine once you arrive at your destination, dpat nk-on muna for a few minutes pra bumaba ng konti yung temp at pag-ikot ng makina,..para tumagal daw ang buhay ng makina.

Although mau ipinapakita syang clearance from the TMG that the car is indeed good and not on hot pursuit.

for me, unless kilalang kilala ko yung seller, i wouldn't buy a car whose engine has been modified. ok lang kung externals ang nabago such as mags, sounds, seats, etc. otherwise, its a sign that the car was raced/driven hard. IMO lang ha. i think a regular car wouldn't need a turbo timer.

A regular gasoline-engine powered car would not require a timer before the engine is turned off, even if coming from a high speed long drive. I think this is one of the car gadgets that has no real use in this case. Gadgetry at its....

Dapat walang utang sa bangko. Incumbered ata tawag doon. Nakalimutan ko lang kung ano color ang incumbered na CR.

As what I know you won't unless you request a copy of both from him and have it checked out from where he registered it. Also get the engine and body number and have it checked out at TMG. Mamaya hot car yan. Mabusisi pero it's necessary. Pera mo yan.

Engine, tranny, brakes, tires in good condition but you have to test drive it.
Interior dapat malinis at walang sira sira.
Exterior, check paint, rust, kung nabangaa na ba.
Tools, Jack, Spare Tire.

4. When i tested the SHIFT of the car,..kahit nk-todo na yung baba ko sa clutch, parang ayaw agad pumasok nung kambyo...(sbi nung seller..normal daw yon kse di daw umaandar --- di ko pa na-test drive)

Malabo yan pre, di dapat ganun sumasabit sa first. Swabe yan in all gears except for reverse na siyempre may parang stop before mo mapasok. Have it checked or if you have a friend na may civic try mo dalhin auto niya. Mamaya malaki pa magastos mo sa tranny.

5. In test Driving,..what are the things I need to look forward to.

Ang pinakaimportante... dapat feel mo ang sasakyan. Mararamdaman mo naman kung may kakaiba.

Kung wala puwede mo ito ipang haggle sa price.

For me dapat mo babaan kasi parang ang dami ng pinakabit. Kung stock yan at well maintained puwede pa yan price na yan.

Mas maganda kasi kung stock mo kukunin unless kilala mo ang owner. Mas maganda na busisiin mo ng mabuti ang seller. Mahirap magpakawala ng 260K.
Tsaka busisiin mo ng mabuti ang documents. Yan ang pinakamahirap kung may sabit yan.

Turbo timer??? Wala ako nakita na turbo dito. Useless lang yan. Patanggal mo nalang bawas presyo.

Search ka din ng ibang threads dito about getting a second hand car. Baka may nalimutan ako.

That's shouldn't be normal, and is possibly already a sign of clutch problems. Unless the seller really believes this is normal, parang medyo questionable na yung honesty nung seller to you regarding potential problems/sira sa Civic.

You can at least get a xerox copy of the OR/CR and verify it, I think in the LTO office, if they can confirm they have the same records for that plate #.

If you could, it may be better if you at least look around and compare with other Civics first. Make sure you have a good test drive before closing the deal. If you discover other problems, negotiate a lower price.

Pre... delikado yan. It should shift easily even when not moving.

Find another vehicle. For 260K you can buy a Galant or Altima already.

35k is just right for a box-type, but don't go for a conversion, and don't go for an automatic... luluha ka sa gas at maintenance.

I'd rather go for a Kia Pride, early models go for as low as 50k. I was once offered a really beat up (but still running) one for 7k!
