Based on km/l, pinaka matipid Mirage hb, G4 and celerio. I can surpass 22 Km/L easily using my G4 basta highway. My record was 27 Km/L once sa EDSA ng madaling araw off ang aircon. Compared that to my sentra na 15 km/l ang highest sa highway.
Pero based on peso/km baka nga Accent diesel simply because diesel is cheaper. According to my android app my g4 consumes average of 2.20 pesos per km (mostly city driving). I expect 2 or less than 2 pesos per km for accent. any accent diesel owner out there?
edit: di ko nabasa except mirage hb, g4, celerio. yup, probably accent kung except nga those 3.
Accent 7speed matic owner here. Averaging 1peso per km mixed city driving and pampanga/batangas every weekend.

Overall lifetime costs, I'd have to go with the Celerio CVT. In my experience, it's slightly better than the Mirage in traffic (though the Mirage CVT's better aerodynamics make it better on the highway).
At 549k, that's a 300k difference to the Accent 7AT. You'd need to drive between 300-400k kilometers in traffic to make up that difference in fuel costs. And that's not to mention the maintenance cost of the fuel system and the car in general.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Mazda cars with their new SkyActiv engines. These are proven designs to be very fuel efficient. Lakas pa hatak. The Mazda2 TOTL is only Php925k but obviously you can negotiate it below 900k. Mazda North Edsa gave me 895k. Mazda3 had a 1.5L variant that has a sticker price of Php975k. Kaso wala ata stock at the moment. Magugulat ka sa fuel efficiency ng mga yan.
Plus, ang gwapo ng Kodo designs ng Mazda, especially the Mazda3.
Nung nagbicol kami averaging 75-80 cents per km, diesel costs(fuel save) 19-20 petot that time. So sulit tlga.

Cost effectiveness, Celerio CVT pa rin. Same reasons. You'd have to drive a very long way to make up the price difference in fuel between that and the Accent.
Unfortunately, the Suzuki Super Carry and Tata Ace have no AT variants.

One unusual thing we're seeing now is that with modern CVTs and efficient cruising gears on even traditional ATs, small gasoline sedans like the City, Ciaz and Mazda2 are able to hit mid-20s on the highway (25+ km/l) with bigger 1.4 and 1.5 liter engines. (Heck, even the Civic RS can hit numbers in that range if you really try).
But in traffic, a good supermini like the Celerio will still kick their asses.
