My uncle's car is LEC. So far, wala syang naging problem. Availability ng parts? Maraming parts for Nissan. Nissan yungn isang ride ko dati. Medyo mas mahal lang (kaunti lang naman) kaysa Toyota or Mitsu.

What are you going to do with it? Daily driver? 2nd car/project car?

Daily driver - the newer the better. Sentra LEC 93-94 seems to be within your budget. If you get lucky there'd be later models. Mahalaga ok ang ilalim at makina at aircon. All the rest can be repaired.

2nd car/project car - Toyota Corolla 89-91 GL or a later model XE/XL. Dami puwede ikabit.

hmmmmn project car. magandang project car yung mga Toyota XL5 1991-1992. around 120K ang price. parts are abundant. saka matipid sa gas dahil 1.3 ang makina. you should try to consider this car.

    90-91 Lancer GLX/EL
89-91 Corolla XL5/XL4 (really dunno kung abot GL dito sa price range na to)
    93 Nissan LEC
Mazda 323 LXi (one of the best buys)
    Mazda Astina

ang problema sa nissan sentra lec ay malakas lumeclec ng gasolina. di ako nagbibiro pards, lakas sa gas yan. ask any taxi driver bakit wala ka na halos makita na sentra lec na taxi and they will tell you it's because even the 1.3 model is a gas guzzler. tinatanggihan ng taxi drivers yang nissan lec, di bale na wala silang labas kesa magpagod sila maghapon para lang paleclecen ng gasolina ang lec.

also, although spare parts are easy to find, nissan spare parts cost more than toyota or mitsu.

medyo malakas nga raw sa gas yang nissan lec, but its quite fast for a 1.3 engine of its generation...

matulin yang nissan lec...compared to a corolla and mitsu of the same engine displacement and model year....

How about po kung i buy the car then put an XL/XE engine na 1.3 para matipid, pwede po ba yon? How much naman po bentahan ng stock XL/XE engine at how much would it cost me kaya pati install?

engine c/w tranny will be around 12-14 k at valenzuela. if there will be no need to modify the engine and transmission mounts than expect another 2-3k for the labor. plus another 2k for the paper work to change the registration details with lto and crame (palakad mo na lang sa mga "agents" sa lto east avenue, mahirap kasi dami kuskos-balungos yang change engine process sa lto).

search mo yung thread about engine replacements, andun ang directions for going to the engine wholesaler at valenzuela. dun ang lowest price na surplus engines sa buong metro manila.
