Suggestions for 2nd hand Car

my knowledge about cars is really limited & the wifey is the driving one, looking for 2nd hand car that's fuel efficient & easily findable parts * around P150K.

which of these should i choose & what are the pro's & con's, what should i also look for when getting these kind of models.

i was wondering bakit kahit na mas modelo ang mga Nissan halos same price lang sya ng honda/ toyota na 4 years older. Any issue ba with nissans or hindi sila matipid sa gas? Many thanks for your input guys.

The main reason why Nissans, even good ones, have bad resale value is because of the brand. If the same car was rebadged as a Toyota, Honda or Mitsubishi, the price would've been entirely different. The brand stigma of Nissan gained through the turbulent 80s was never washed away.

From the cars you mentioned, stay away from the ESi's. Parts are not cheap and its got major rust problems while not giving any better engine performance than the Corolla and the Sentra due to the absence of VTEC, though the handling is admittedly good. I suggest you get the periwinkle colored Series 3. By the looks of it, it is a very good car and its got lots of toys on it. Caution though, test drive thoroughly before getting since this one may have been involved in lots of grueling races. I wouldn't be getting the 2000 Sentra FE since it is the most barebones model with a smaller (AFAIK) 1.4L engine. As for the AE101, its nice but its too old, and the A/T makes it even worse.

I thought being a newer model, 2000 Sentra FE, it would be more better than the older ones i guess that's not always the case. it's good to have these kind of forums for people like us

It depends if the previous owner has maintained the A/T car well. And since it is already decades old technology, the transmission is not as efficient as the ones made today and the age would also take its toll on the electronics in the transmission. Old A/T cars generally have bad fuel mileage as compared to their M/T counterparts.

so i guess I'll better stick to M/T ones then & for my budget i guess i'm just going for a Toyota either an XE-XL- GLi - LL kahit hindi na power yung iba

Series 3 na blue or Civic ESi na blue.

If your budget is strictly 150k you better buy the Sentra.
Because it is impossible for you not to replace anything with a second hand car.
(Brake Pad, Bushings, Wipers, Coolant).

Plus you can spend around 3k for interior and exterior detailing to make your car look, smell and feel relatively brand new. It's also good for tune-up, and Change Oil.

now I'm leaning more on Sentra's since those Corollas can reach up to P200K even lower year model than the Sentra
