surplus' or second-hand) for a Bighorn, running on a 4JG2-TC engine. I would like to just get an idea of how much this might cost, and kung saan meron. Seems yung mga local 'surplus' warehouses don't have it(?). Pareho lang ba ito with the 5-speed manual trans for the 4JB1 (Fuego)?

    Thanks in Advance...

Clem: welcome sa Tsikot/DieselClub.Org. Its the 1st corner from E.Rod. Turn left sa corner. Hope the forum helps you enjoy your rig.

Also try sa Cinco and Sprint sa Banawe. ;)

Hi all, salamat sa info - will try to go to the places mentioned!

Otep, having problems with my auto trans kasi - am not sure where the problem exactly is, could be the torque converter, ol pump, or forward clutch. Basically from idle to about 2000+ rpm, walang kapit halos ang trans - no power going to the wheels, while the engine naman is free-reving - walang load. When the vehicle is traveling above 70kph and the clutch lockup mechanism is on, very solid ang feel. Ibabalik ko nga ito sa dealer to have them fix it one of these days but I'm considering going fully manual as an alternative (na gastos! aray), for performance (and economy) primarily!

Before doing anything that will cost plenty of $$$$$$$$$$, why not try this one ? A friend who used this product for his Ford Ranger (U.S. version) swore that this product works as advertised, though, I cannot verify its efficacy in as much as I have not used it myself. But if your only other alternative is to spend $$$$$$$, then, what the heck, it is worth a try.

Sure bang straight swap ang automatic to manual? Baka sumablay iyan. Mahirap ang tranny swap lalo na't manual to automatic.

TY to all for inputs... will keep everyone posted as to what happens! Very least is, kelangan i-machine-shop yung crankshaft para magkaroon ng pilot bearing hole since the automatics don't have this. Baka kelangan din magpalit ng flywheel, and of course to put in a clutch master and pedal... dont know what else may need to be done...

Have you given thought about the electronics? (which is a totally different thing from the electrics).

Frankly, no, haven't really thought about it! Not sure in the bighorn if the tranny ECU is integrated with the engine ECU or not. On the Toyota 4runner it is.. I was actually considering piggy-backing a micrcontroller onto the existing auto-tranny controller to change its operating characteristic (i.e. do a clutch lockup earlier etc), which *shouldn't* be too hard to do, if we had at least a wiring diagram etc for the bighorn (4JG2 + Aisin AW30-40LE tranny)... Pero most of the wiring I've seen so far relates to the Trooper running the V6 3.2l US version...

Baka mahirapan ka na ibenta ang Trooper mo after the swap. Kasi medyo magiging chop suey na siya. Tama si fierari. Straight swap an engine with tranny.

Actually i just had my auto tranny oil changed and filter cleaned. Ganun pa rin. I think now it is even getting worse. Pero not sure baka clutch na.

ClemO, pare almost same problem pala tayo. Loss of power din.

Otep, fierari - you're right about chop-suey, pero ayoko rin palitan yung engine, since feeling ko, ok ang power nito and no smoke. Baka mas pangit ang ma-swap! (ask GaryQ, na-try nya i-drive)...

lancelot, anong tranny mo, are you running on the AW30-40LE also, o yung THM 4L30E?

I had the same problem with my isuzu mu. Walang hatak from stop to go. But ok na sya after reach mg 20-30kph. Apparently, sira yung solenoid ko for the forward gears. after palitan and gastos ng 10k+ ok na sya.

Hi dembi - from the symptoms I'm getting it would seem that the solenoids are acting properly... why 10k+ for just that?

He!he! Ok na yan. Bilis nga ng big horn mo eh! no really I think ok naman siya. siguro kaya 4 km/liter ka mabigat ng konti paa mo sa gas pedal. try mo sa highway at constant 90 kph and see gas consumption. punta ka sa party para magkita tayo uli. dalhin mo yung docs
