    Hi Tsikoteers!
I have just registered last night and this is after I've found out that this web site rocks! Highly informative yet entertaining.
This is actually my first post. Naghahanap ako ng thread that exactly goes with my title pero just had some close stuffs like "newbies" and "cost of maintaining a 2nd hand car". Hence the reason I posted this is to get the info straight from you guys and in my very own thread.
    Hope you'll grant my request...

    salamat po!!!!

    Do's-
    take your time.
    Don'ts-
take the seller's word for it. neither direct or buy and sell. have the car you bought checked. or ask for the copy of impt papers; receipts of the parts replaced much better kung may service record.
    e.g.
my friend bought a car from a direct seller. all are "newly replaced" daw (belts, oil, fluids, etc...) to make it short, he bought it and have it checked afterwards. the t-belt is on the brink of snapping. sobrang nipis na and has oil all over it. may leak na seals. luckily naagapan.

    do's
remove timing cover if you can.
Visual inspection(i.e. re spray, alignment of doors)
open the hood ang check for leaks(oil pan, valve cover gasket, head gasket, front and rear seals)
test drive the car and do a wide open throttle.

    Just a question?
Can you call the CASA to ask for a 2nd hand cars service records before you buy the car? Will the CASA willingly tell the records of a car even if its no the owner asking? I planning to get a second hand car and supposedly all CASA maintained.

if the seller claims the car is casa maintained, ask for the service record booklet.

if the booklet is not available, ask for the casa receipts.

    Hi Guys,
Ngayon lang ulit ako nakapag log so ngayon ko lang nabasa yung mga replies nyo and I was so glad for your concise yet very meaningful advices...Tatandaan ko lahat ng sinabi nyo just before I say "Deal!" to the fortunate seller.
    Bow ako sa inyo!!!
Right now, I'm still hunting for my ride...hopefully it won't be too long pero if it will take time okay lang kasi mas maganda na yung matagal basta satisfied and you're really convinced that you've got the right one...

tenks and more power to all tsikoteers!!!

If you are going to buy a second hand car never forget to verify the papers baka makabili ka ng carnap. Ask for a copy of one valid ID of the registered owner w/ signature.

gud day. just want to share what im doing when buying a scond hand car.

1st is to inspect exterior carefully.. i see to it that everything is all aligned and syempre yung latang lata parin ang gusto natin.basta everything is aligned khit mga konting dents lang and no history of accidents ok na saakin. mapapansin mo naman kung may collision na sya if deformed na at mejo masilyado na especially sa loob ng trunk and engine bay.

as much as possible buy cars from a direct seller to get the best deals. and research the car you are planning to buy, para malaman mo ang usual problms nito.

ALWAYS have a mechanic that you are familiar with check the car. This is non-negotiable. And after that, never accept any excuses or explanation the owner has for the car.

It sucks, but assume the owner of the car is lying about everything.
