February 13th, 2020 06:17 PM #1Hello, please help us find a sedan. My mom had a knee injury so she can't ride a PPV/SUV. Too tall for her now.
Here are our choices (suggest something if you think it's okay)
1. Toyota Corolla 2015-2016 Automatic
- 550-650k
- Toyota but according to Corolla 11th gen thread, there is a dashboard rattling sound problem
2. Hyundai Elantra 2017-2018 Automatic
- 550-600k
- Like Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra has little features
- Not sure about the maintenance cost.
- I read here that instead of going to CASA, banawe people can do the works in case something goes wrong. Is this true? Nakakatakot kasi na baka after 2-3 years tapos masira ito e baka pahirapan naman ayusin
3. Volkswagen Jetta 2016 Automatic
- 550-600k
- Taxi driver suggested this because it's a diesel.
- Considering that there are no more Jettas being sold in the Philippines, will it be hard to fix the car when something goes wrong?
EDIT: I didn't include Honda Civic because of how much expensive they are. Grabe sobrang mahal na nga bumili ng second hand car dito sa Pilipinas pero yung Honda cars talaga ay nasa ibang level

February 13th, 2020 08:08 PM #2Sa family namin, the oldies prefer the mpv types.

Pwede naman iconsider na magXpander na lang muna instead of getting a compact car since we were planning on getting Innova before this happened.
Things about us:
1. My father and I are overweight(borderline obese).
2. Most of the time, ako at mom ko lang yung nasa car since may condo naman dad ko sa Manila.

February 15th, 2020 12:21 PM #4I didnt mention i have an xpander. Hehehe.
But my cousin bought one june last year. When the fuel pump issue came out, the dealer replaced the pump during the PMS.
Riding comfort is very nice and it really is not that tall that ingress becomes a problem. It rides like a sedan. His inlaws, both in their mid 70s doesnt have a hard time going in and out of the car.

How much budget do you have in mind? If you’re looking to spend 600k on a used car, you might as well consider getting something new for around 900k to 1M.
Kung pang harabas lang, get something older (2010-2012) for just 300k. It can do the job same way as a newer used car but you saved more.

February 13th, 2020 10:18 PM #9if you like, you can look for a corolla whose dashboard doesn't rattle.
the nicest ingress and egress among the sedans i have seen, are with the 2000s lancer cedias.
but they're ancient...

February 13th, 2020 10:28 PM #10Balak din po kasi namin bumili ng innova kaya sedan lang po yung bibilhin namin ngayon.
My mom does not like old cars i.e. more than 5 or 6 years old cars. That's why we are only looking at 2015-2016. We are still planning on buying Innova. Just waiting for huge discount so we only want to spend 500-600k for this car.
That's what we are planning to do. Check the car with my not mechanic uncle. I've also checked on youtube what the rattling dashboard sounds like. In addition to this, I've been watching youtube videos on what to check when buying a used car.
