    Hi tsikoters,

I'm an OFW, and I would like to buy a (budget P500k) car for my wife. Both of us are newbie hoping to have our 1st car in November. Actually, I'm still persuading my wife to enroll in a driving lesson this mid-school break (with 2 kids). The main usage for the car would just be buying groceries, go to the mall, go to church sunday service, and family out-of-town during my vacations.
With that said, should we buy a brand new or 2nd hand car? given that she has no know-how in cars. Gusto ko sana ng SUV pero nagdadalawang-isip ako kung kaya niya bang i-handle (driving and maintenance)

    Thanks :-)

i suggest brand new. first, wala sya masyado alam sa cars, so pag 2nd hand baka mamoblema lang. with the price of 500k, small cars ang mabibili like eon, alto, mirage. kayang kaya nya ihandle yun

Best bet would be a 2nd hand Grand Livina.

Dali lang i-drive, maliit eh. Pero kasya six to seven people inside. Or an Avanza perhaps.

Di pwedeng brand new eh. Wala ka naman mabibili na big enough & automatic (assuming na preferred AT coz wifey will drive) sa 500k. Parang pwede mo lang ata mabili sa 500k eh Eon, Mirage & Alto..

    Get a car that is.

    1. automatic = easy on the women
    2. cheap to maintain/frugal on gas = easy on the pocket
    3. abundant spareparts = fast turn around in case of repairs

I won't mention brands. That would be a very subjective issue eh. Good luck on your first car, and congratulations!

Our budget P500k would be our downpayment (if brand new then the rest will be amortization), or this is impractical?

    Thanks again.

You can save-up a little more and buy brand new ... cash! You can get discounts pa naman. Sayang din ang interest on monthly amortizations.

    My ideas.

kung budget mo 500k medyo limited ata choices mo pag brandnew car. may mga chinese cars less than 500k. the hyundai eon, picanto, celerio, alto, mirage baka pwede pa umabot sa budget mo (around 550k). ako sa mirage. kung sa 2nd hand sa innova ako na gas. madali drive and park. maluwag, madali maintenance.etc. kung 500-k downpayment . innova G na gas
