Lets say the car is fully repaired. Which of the two cars will you consider buying.
A. Flooded - nalubog totally.
B. Collided - major as in malaki ang damage / declared total loss ng insurance.

wala... kasi sa ganyang case ng sira baka less than 2 years lang may maglabasan na sakit yan
sa flooded unit possible major electrical problem lumabas then rust here and there
sa collided is kung buo pa yung body frame nya....
Unless you plan on getting spare parts from it ibang usapan na yan

I'd stay away from either options. Dents or fender-benders will be fine but not a major crash. For flooded vehicles, there are a few models which prove they can survive water exposure (like those Ford Rangers) but for others, it's still a big risk.

fully repaired, as in binaklas yung buong kotse, checked completely, all damaged parts repaired or replaced?
from experience from flooding, you will never be able to get it all checked and done. yung sa santa fe ko dati i spent more than 250k, then after 3 years muntik ibanga ang misis ko kasi nag-lock ang steering due to a corroded steering shaft bearing. and i used the car a week before running at 160kph at sctex. yun naman starex grx i spent 140k, after 2 years biglang sira ang injector and ecu. the ecu was repairable (kinalawang yung pins ng IC) but the injectors were for replacement na. sold both, iwas sakit ng ulo, iwas accident din.
major collision no idea. siguro kung gawa ng reputable repair shops...

January 20th, 2014 10:44 PM #8depends on what your definition of "fully repaired" is.
if it means, everything replaced, then it's practically a brand new car, 'di ba?
but i think you meant that everything works as of today...
i'd steer away from either.
it takes some time for rust to do its damage...
metal fatigue and weakened geometry are hastened by major collision.. and it takes some more time for these to manifest..
if there is a car that i will consider buying after it has been completely submerged in water, it's probably the classic air-cooled VW beetle.. because everything can realistically be repaired effectively, or replaced..
