im not planning to sell d car naman after kong bilhin..kya sa resale value no problem.,,gusto ko lng mlaman kung anong d best sa mga to,,do i need to consider d age of the car ba? like d SIR na 10yrs old na..pero sabi nila d best daw honda..bout d RS nmn,,full package na to, nka sporty look at a great price din,bad side lng sbi nila e mazda inside daw and d parts are mahirap mahanap and mahal..bout nmn sa lancer04/05..welll...ok lng...kya lng medyo nsa 400k pa..

my budget po is 350-380k...

You can't find Ford parts everywhere, but you're not going to have major problems looking for them. There are several stores in Banawe that carry everything from stock clutches, suspensions and trim pieces (lights) to electronics such as ignition coils, cam position sensors and MAFs. Prices are comparable to other modern compact cars.

The decision should be based mostly on the condition of the car. The SiR has a much stronger engine than the other two, both in terms of power and longevity, but at this age, and if the previous owner has raced it, it could be on its last legs. Find a fresh one with low mileage that sounds good, runs with little vibration and has no strange power hiccups. Check that the oil is fresh and doesn't smell burnt, and check for problems with the coolant.

I'd only buy an SiR if the price is fantastic or if the car is in excellent condition. Refreshing a ten year old car, even with normal wear-and-tear, can cost upwards of 20-50k pesos (all bushings, shocks, clutch, etcetera).

Check the RS's oil level. The RS engine tends to eat a little oil (this is normal) when revved too hard (this is actually common on many engines, not just the RS), which is easier with the RS than with most cars, because the gearing is so short and because the RS reaches top speed at redline in 5th... the potential for abuse is high... a low oil level (when cold) can indicate either poor maintenance or abuse. The only other quirks with the RS are the common ones for EFI cars, idle controller, vacuum, etcetera... problems that you will see on the Lancer (the Lynx uses a lot of mitsubishi electronics) and the Civic (which has more electronics, due to the VTEC system).

As always, check suspension, transmission and brakes. Brake problems are a hassle, but cheap, suspension problems are easy to fix, but expensive, and transmission problems are a pain in the ass.

The SiR is the fastest car here in a drag race, but in traffic, the RS's extra torque makes for easy overtaking, and the RS is a better handling car. It also has a lot of extra kit, like a 12 CD disc changer, a sunroof, airbags and electronic brake-force distribution. Fuel economy, stock to stock, is similar. The RS can hit 8-10 km/l in city driving and 10-12 km/l on the highway (14-16 km/l if you drive on the NLEX).

Which Lancer are you looking at? The 1.8 MX is a compelling package, with a smooth CVT and lots of toys, but the 2.0 GT has a 4-speed transmission that's poorly geared for the engine, thus it bogs down at low rpms, accelerates poorly and feels terrible. One extra problem with buying a Lancer AT is the extra electronics involved in the transmission packages. Automatic Lancers have two to three ECUs, two of which are in very vulnerable positions when you're fording deep floodwater.
