    Hi Mga Tsikot Bossings,

I'm planning to buy my first car (2nd Hand).. Wala pang masyadong budget kaya yan muna. I'm turning 30 in the next few years and di man lang ako nakabili kahit motor lang.

Budget ko for now is 150k-200k .. Nagtingin tingin nadin ako sa mga buy&sell websites like ayos and sulit etc..

    1. Alin car prefer nyo sa budget ko? (M/T Only)

if i am in your shoes, i would get a corolla or a nissan sentra S3..... leave the rest of the cash for repairs.
madaming kailangang tignan ang second hand na oto.... among which are the following:

    a) leaks - tignan sa ilalim kung may tulo ng langis, fluid or coolant.
    b) check ang condition ng idling and smoke habang tumatakbo.
    c) check the switches. dapat gumagana lahat.
    d) test drive it.... check the suspension.... check the steering.
    e) check the tires kung kalbo na.
    f) check the interiors.... kung matatanggal mo yung carpet, tignan mo yung ilalim ng carpet for rust or holes.
    g) check for overheating..... yaan mo lang i idle yung oto and patakbuhin mo.... check mo yung temperature gauge. after running it, check mo condition ng reservoir coolant and the radiator (tanggalin mo yung radiator cap, pero palamigin mo muna).
    j) check the clutch and brakes.
    k) check the airconditioning system
    l) while running, observe the sound ng engine and sound na nangagaling sa gulong o suspension.
    m) check mo yung headlights, wipers, radio, signal and emergency lights

    tips....

assuming everything else is ok..... pa change oil mo kaagad and change transmission oil and tune-up. dapat roadworthy.... hwag mo muna isipin ang japorms kung limited budget.

If you really like the Civic EK body, try to go for a 1999 or 2000 model LXi selling at maybe 200K-220K; then budget the balance for a general service and repairs. Better to go for a manual transmission model with a car that age.

Otherwise, a 1999 to 2001 Sentra or 2001 to 2002 Corolla Altis, or a 2003 Vios fits the bill quite fine too.

When you buy the car, palit lahat fluids yan (brake, oil, transmission, powersteering, coolant), check electricals, check for leaks, check/palit belts (timing, alternator, a/c compressor), check brakes and suspension, possible A/C cleaning, etc.

get a car na nasa 200 below range. tapos yung nadagdag na budget, allocate pang maintenance.

If i have the budget like yours and im looking for a car right now, my options are the nissan grandeur ang hyundai getz...:-)

Hehe. Honda for me. Kahit old model maangas pa din ang dating basta properly maintained. IMO, Pag toyota kasi parang taxi agad naiisip ko.

It really depends on the eye of the beholder. For me it's the other way around. I find Toyota designs to age better than Hondas which look fantastic when they're brand new but as soon as the next model is released, suddenly the previous design looks aged.

For now, Honda nasa isip ko.

    1. Buying 2nd car tips and advices
    2. Getting a newer car is better (excerpt for Honda -- which is kahit luma mahal padin)
