    Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a car. Ideally a 1-3 year used car, white is my preferred color.

I want to buy a sporty car, but most likely will also be used as my daily driver.

    My budget is around 1M-1.5M

    I'm choosing between the following:

    • 86/BRZ
    • MX-5
    • Civic RS
    • Focus

    Not interested sa WRX

For the MX-5 or BRZ, I'll be getting it in M/T if ever. I drive through rush hour traffic daily, QC to Ortigas/Makati.

I'm single BTW, no family and no GF lol. We also have a carens and jazz if I need space for people and/or stuff.

    What do you guys think?

    TIA!

Daily driver in traffic, Civic RS just because the drive is more comfortable.

Remove the Focus from your list if it has a DCT, baka mapa commute ka pa pauwi.

    Also consider the Mazda3 2.0

Let's just say all of your choices are equal...

So I will look at the 4 cars with the eyes on another person... (think total newbie in cars)

My Vote goes to the 86.

Focus / RX - people might say its the normal Focus/RX with after market body kits. (remember the Evo?)

So the MX-5 and 86 will stand out better...

But the 86 will has the Toyota badge and hopefully, Toyota support.

This is true for me, the other cars will look "normal". The BRZ/86 and Miata will be great to look and worth giving a second look for bystanders.

My vote goes to Miata, it's top down! Why top down? I don't know, I just like it. I know the weather is hot but I still want a top down. Imagine driving with all the wind rushing to your hair but not in Manila, of course. After 20 years, I think the Miata will be a classic car.

To add, it seems Toyota wishes to do what Mazda is doing.

The Miata would be a tiis-pogi car, would not be the most practical daily driver but is the enthusiast choice (anyway OP says s/he already owns other cars for hauling people/luggage so there's that).

    Nothing against the Miata...

But the 86's back seat will be handy... kung biglang kailanganin...

    e.g.
    1. kailangan mag bihis
    2. gusto mo umidlip
    3. bumili ka ng malaking pizza/cake
    4. may bagong kilala kang girl tapos kambal pala

You're funny! And the last part you said made me think of *minicarph

You can't recline the seats of Miata like a sedan and what you have said makes sense. The passenger seat is great for being "exclusive for her", however.

    Fair enough.

Single no kids. Mx5 seems to be perfect for you. Plus, it will still be a looker in prolly 5 to 10 years from now.

2nd hand? Among your list, vote goes to 86/BRZ definitely among the selection. Mahirap i-daily drive ang MX5 sa tingin ko. Tapos aalalahanin mo pa na baka punitin yung soft top. LOL. Better leave it as a weekend car in times when you just want to have fun.

If you want a Ford Focus, just get a brand new model with the ecoboost. It has a torque converter auto now, no more of that DCT... I’m driving one now and its pretty reliable SO FAR.

But if I were in your shoes and with that budget... WRX with a manual transmission talaga. Bahala na pareha kami ng pinsan. Just make sure its stock.

only if you can honestly afford both the car and the parking slot you will park it on.
    heh heh.

so what does "sporty" mean to you?
if it's just the lack of the 3rd and 4th doors, that should be easy.
if it means sporty driving experience... yung honda siguro. because, among your choices, i believe it offers "non-compromised driver space".
my experience kasi, if the sporty vehicle has a somewhat cramped driving space (manufacturer usually embellishes this as "fits like a glove"), the somewhat cramped driving space becomes even more uncomfortable, as the ownership days proceed. "sa umpisa lang siya kumportable"... even as my ego won't admit this to myself.
try them out for size first, sir.

i wish i had this similar problem...
    heh heh.

Given the choices, it would have to be the MX5, then the BRZ. If buying new, it would have to be the Civic RS. The Focus has a potent engine but it has a heavier body than the Civic.

For me though, I would go with a used WRX and then tune it to STi power outputs.

Best 2 door in our country would be the ... Suzuki Jimny ... Then you an modify it to look like a Mercedes Benz G-wagen or a Land Rover Defender ... Definitely a head turner ...
