    guys!

help me out. Already paid for half of it (the other half, I have no idea where I'll get... hahaha).

    IGNORING gas Prices:

Would you choose the v6 3.8 GAS or the 3.2 Diesel engine?

    Pros and cons please....

and why do a lot of people rave about this 3.2 engine? is it revolutionary? why is it more expensive? and heck,
why does it look 100x better than the v6 when you open the hood?

    Help!!!!

diesel is more expensive due to market demand.

even if you do not worry about gasoline prices for yourself, gasoline prices will affect the resale value of your unit, if you get the gas version. If you plan to keep the unit for 10 to 15 years, then it doesn't matter, but if you are the type who likes to change cars every 5 years, then the diesel will have the higher resale value. just look at the trooper diesel versus the gas resale value right now.

the diesel gen 3 pajero is no slouch. according to my friend who has driven one, abot daw ng 200 kmh, so lets allow for some BS allowance and say that it can reach 180 kmh, i think we can all live with that

go for the diesel pare, better investment in the long run.

    Diesel.

It is the most powerful engine in its class. And compared to the gasoline version, the diesel is still less complex.

It makes most of its power at around 2,000rpm. The gasoline peaks near redline. Even off idle, the diesel Pajero can take off really hard. This is great for stop and go traffic, for off-roading and for towing. Even at highway speeds, the DiD Pajero will not lose much compared to the V6.

Most aftermarket parts (snorkel kits, dual battery kits, bashplates, etc.) were designed specifically for the diesel Pajero.

First of all, let me just say na......

    INGGIT AKO!!!!!! :evillaugh

OK. Now that i got that off my chest....

Go diesel! Yes the gasoline engine has more HP, but the diesel has a LOT LOT more torque at around 2000rpm, right where you'd want it for daily driving. And of course the words 3.8Liter, V6, 24 Valve and Gasoline together in a sentence doesnt really sound economical does it?

In any case, you cant go wrong with the Pajero gen3, even if some pilatos here say otherwise.

    Get a Diesel.

Diesel engines are more expensive to manufacture because theyre built to withstand higher compression ratios and generally more stress than gas engines.

kaya mas mahal ang diesel engines sa brand new cars. This is true for most of the world.

the 4M41 is great. Walang usok even during start.

PK, i thought that was the reason, but when i took a look at the patrol, mas mura ang diesel variant versus the gas variant, bakit kaya ganun?

but, i would pay the additional P100,000 for the diesel gen 3 pajero anytime. the problem is finding the other 2.3 million to go along with it.

Nasabi na yata nila lahat ng dahilan para sa diesel.

Sa akin naman, you're getting a machine that's more than capable in off-road situations. When you leave the pavement, you'll be needing loads of grip and torque. The grip can be supplied by your tires and drive system. And guess which engine can give you the best possible torque?

4WD and gasoline? Sounds like an uncomfortable compromise. Kaya go diesel na!

    aaaaahhhhhrrrrggg!

    I'm more confused than ever.

but we all talk about the Pajero winning the Dakar-Paris rally and it's always the gas model

thanks guys! I'm really thinking very hard about it. I have a bias against diesel engines,
    tho I never owned one.

and isn't our local diesel fuel the worse in the world?

    btw,

I have a cheaper, smaller everyday car.

I'm buying the Pajero not as a utility vehicle but more for luxury.

thanks for all the responses so far!

well, if you are not comfortable with a diesel engine and can afford the fuel expense - then go for a gasoline powered ride.

it's your choice on what you are comfortable with.

True, but like I always say: Do you really need speed, in a country full of bad roads and horrendous traffic? Apart from the occasional trip along the expressway and the airport tarmac, gas HP would only be wasted idling when you're stuck in some jammed intersection.

Pero sabi nga ni mazda2, choice mo na yan. Bahala ka na kung ano preference mo. Basta alagaan mo lang ng mabuti, siguradong matagal ang pakinabang mo diyan.

bad driver, haha! thanks man! anyways, we all have a sort of bias against diesels because we normally associate these with bad jeepneys.

Its still your choice dude..... sabi nga nila, horspower sells cars but at the end of the day you drive torque. And kung torque ang usapan its pretty much synonymous with diesels.

I wish I had your problem haha!

Luckytruck, the diesel offered with the patrol (IMO) is not of the same category as the gas engine. I think the gas engine offered here is of an upscale model, yung diesel nila parang so-so lang. Meron kasing inline 6 na turbodiesel ang patrol na hindi offered dito. This would cost as much (again im just guessing) or maybe even more than the gas. Then again im Pajerokid and not PatrolMan haha!

    PK, ako rin, solid pajero.

for me, my deciding factor would be how long you intend to keep the car. kung short term 5 years and below, go for the diesel kasi mataas ang resale value. kung long term, go with whichever you are comfortable with.

diesel na kunin mo, tapos five years from now, benta mo sa akin for P1 million

    AYOS!!!!
