Help!!! Confused between the a 2nd hand Fortuner or a brand new GLX Strada

Hi Guys -

Hope to get some inputs from the more seasoned and experienced car buyers...

Details:
* I've got around 470k in cash for the downpayment; rest to be financed

Options are:
1.) 2010 GLX Strada (925K) - this was originally the option I was sure to get... until...
2.) 2007 Fortuner G (920K) - in good/excellent condition - I know the seller but not personally

I was hoping to get inputs on:
a.) In terms of future resale value - checked how much a 2007 Strada costs at it was around 780K na lang.
b.) Overall comfort - Fortuners are known to be matagtag; Pickups (Strada) are not comfortable in nature (atleast from what I've heard).
c.) Maintenance
d.) Fuel efficiency
d.) Value for money; bang for the buck

Any inputs appreciated.

magkaiba kasi yang dalawa na yan.. bakit pickup sir yung nagustuhan nyo?? can only sit 5 pero you can haul stuff.. yung fortuner naman can sit 7 or 8.. you can still haul stuff pag naka tiklop 3rd row.. pero 2nd hand compared to brand new.. don ako sa brand new.. kung yung fortuner pipiliin nyo.. make sure hindi nabaha..

A. Resale value quits lang yan, so I wouldn't be looking in here
B. Believe it or not the Strada is more comfy than the Foruner especially 2007 model yan pre-facelifted. The Fortuner is just a Hi-lux with a roof so its like comparing the Strada and a Hi-lux and definitely Strada is more comfy!
C. Now that is where katakot-takot yang Strada. Base sa mga costs na posted ng Strada owners sa PMS thread nila mattas PMS costs nila. And in general Toyota service is better than Mitsubishi's service. A lot of bad feedbacks about Mitsubishi including one Paco dealer cheating their customers on an old Outlander...
D. Value for money, STRADA! Bago eh! Fuel efficiency no comment since I have no idea...

Pick-up for its utility. I remember buying big things which turn to big problems transporting home. Also, I'm into bike riding which makes that a plus. We do though have usual trips with family members which make us need to take two cars for one trip.

Mind me asking, what exactly does PMS mean? I'm pretty sure its related to post purchase but wanted to know what the acronym really stands for.. hehe...
I also noticed you were looking for a pick up. Have you decided? We may though have different uses for it

Now on the topic, both choices are good, but nothing beats a brand new car vs a used car. It really boils down to your needs. How often do you transport family that needs two vehicles when you go out? How often do you bike that you need a pick up? How harsh of a ride to you want to feel?

What's the mileage of the Fortuner? Iba kasi ang category of your choices sir..it would be easier if hilux vs strada.. or fortuner vs montero sport.

go with your guts...choose the one you favored first.

Thanks sir! hehe... not that usual, but would become more frequent with a bigger car. Though not in the same class, I was hoping to get just a ball park figure for fuel costs if used daily in metro driving.

Mitsubishi Strada.

There`s nothing really negative about this vehicle. Well atleast, from what I`ve read. It's ride is definitely better than the Fortuner's, and .. it isn't that bouncy. Not bouncy to the fact that plenty is comparing it with a sedan-like ride. Maybe not as comfortable as a sedan, but it's pretty much near. :2thumbsup:

Toyota Fortuner

G ? VVT-i ? If it is, then your safe with it's diesel problems. But the tagtag issues in that model isn't still refined. So, if you don't like a bouncy ride. Don't waste your time. Price is 920k ? Pretty cheap. Back models of the Fortuners are even priced at the 1M mark. Anyways, allot another 50k for it's check-ups and repairs.

It really depends on what is going to be your use. Hauling cargo ? Definitely Strada. It has a cargo bed that's best for some large items that can't fit in a Fortuner or any SUV's ; Hauling people ? Fortuner. Seats 7-8pax. with enough cargo space.

Maintenance cost won't make a difference. Maybe the Fortuner is A LITTLE BIT lower. Dunno, not sure.

Fuel Efficiency ? Don't expect much on the fortuner. Especially with it's 2.7VVT-i engine.

Don't think much of the resale value. It's nonsense if you enjoy your ride.

But one thing's for sure. Nothing beats a brand new vehicle ( except for the lemon brand new ones tho'. )
