    Mga guru,

May mother in law planning to buy a hyundai starex 2006 9 seater TCI model a non-crdi model with automatic transmission. ask ko lang po about this auto if worth for 480k? mileage is around 85k

And also paki advise naman kung ano po ang pros and cons?

And her another 2nd choice is an Isuzu crosswind 2003 A/T worth 420k.

The two vehicle are both automatic ask ko lang po about sa pros and cons for this vehicle kung ano mas reliable

    1. Fuel Consumption
    2. Maintenance Cost
    3. Is the automatic tranny are reliable for this type of vehicle?

    salamat sa advise mga sir.

stay away from the crosswind, mabagal na mausok pa, takaw huli sa smoke belching.

medyo mahal yata yung 480k for the 2006 tci. taga saan yung nagbebenta? di kaya nabaha yan? as long as sure kayo na di nabaha then ask them to lower the price to somewhere below 450k. kung di kayo sure then forget it, dami pwede lumabas na sira sa tranny kung nababad sa tubig.

I used to own a 2005 GRX TCi A/T unit and was mighty satisfied with it... I would have kept it, if not for us, acquiring a couple more rides 5 years later, as part of our company car scheme, and more importantly, I have no more space in our garage.... it was doing 6.5Km/L full city and 8.5Km/L highway... Very reliable A/T; I'd say regular maintenance cost, but then again,- I disposed of it after 5 years.

I drove the Crosswind A/T on a few occasions (our friend's ride) and it was sooooo slowwwwwww... better get the M/T variant for this ride, if you want it.... And, based on my observations,- pangmerienda o tanghalian iyan ng mga ASBU...

CVT, mas malakas pala sa diesel ang TCI? Mine's getting 8km/l. 2006 CRDi AT. Matulin pa.

All along akala ko same FC tapos mas matulin lang CRDi. Was able to compare an 03 TCi MT vs 03 CRDi AT dati. Akala ko neglible ang tranny difference.

Although bro,- I am sharing this computation.

Assuming that TCi is at 7Km/L and CRDi is at 10Km/L in performance; diesel at P40/L and price difference of Starex unit is P300K between TCi and CRDi of the same transmission config, then, payback is 175,000Km, assuming all else equal (maintenance and others)....

Well, I normally would not reach that mileage, and so I chose the TCi over the CRDi/VGT variant.

But then the superior ride comfort kind of makes up for it. Advantage din niya over the Crosswind ang safety features like ABS and airbags.

If you're getting an AT Crosswind, you're not going to get anywhere near the 10 km/l some of us can get in traffic. More like 7-8 km/l. Went to Baguio, my composite for the whole trip was 8.5 km/l.

So it's not that much better than a GRX AT. It's better, because it's lighter, but not much better.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Starex and Crosswind are better driven on MT.

But I will take the Starex if riding comfort is more valued.

That was approx our GRX AT performance then, just a tad higher, during our trips to Baguio....

    .
Bro.- AFAIR,- driver's side airbag but no ABS ang GRX TCi AT....

And I beg to disagree,- because when going up Marcos Hiway during our 2x a year trip to Baguio,- I normally would overtake all of the vehicles that come our way....

Wala bang ABS yan? I remember even the old SVX have ABS and LSD already.

I remember the 2000 turbo intercooler Starex Club A/T of a family friend who went with us to Baguio once. It was loaded to capacity inside, with most of their baggage tied on the roof. Nahirapan siya umakyat ng Marcos, at some point slowing at a dangerous rate that we thought it was going to slide! And then it consumed a very large portion of its fuel upon reaching destination that it had to immediately refuel. I suppose payload, aerodynamics and engine upkeep have a lot to do with it.

Have you tried Kennon with it? Kumusta naman? My experience with the Kennon route using an old school diesel was with our Revo M/T. 6 passengers with luggage and aircon on. I managed to overtake all slow moving vehicles including trucks and PUVs, and kept a pace of around 60-70km/h on the straights and 30-40km/h on the corners. RPM was above 3000 most of the time though, and I used up 1/4 tank for that stretch (also 1/4 tank from Manila to La Union).
