I'm thinking of replacing the stock head unit of my new Altis to one of the Pioneer AVH units. My priority is to have a back up cam and Waze. I read that the back up cam is easy to setup but how about waze? Any of you guys with a Pioneer HU use waze? Do you still need to connect your phone to the HU or hotspot na lang? Laggy ba siya?

Got a 2850bt for my wife's Innova. Posted it in page 219 of the audio beginner's thread. I also installed it for back up cam, (since my wife's Innova is only an E & the radio wasn't the one with the big screen) & waze for her. You just need to download the app & connect your phone via cable. The waze in the head unit is not as fluid as the one in the phone.

Sorry, I meant you have to create an account with Appradio. Yes, it's connected via usb. When you plug your phone via usb, Appradio would automatically connect. Then when you click on the Waze app in your phone, it would go blank in your phone then Waze would appear in the pioneer head unit.

thanks for the feedback bugsmobile! Can you share what shop installed your HU? I'm a first timer in changing anything in car and I see so many ads online I am not sure which are okay or not.

No problem you're welcome. I bought it from DC3. The shop is along banawe in front of Goldcars. You may call them up at 7323613 or 7116994. Name of the owner is Danny. Funny thing is at first he didn't know that waze could work with the pioneer head units, until I tinkered with it & showed him how hehe.

Thank you for the info! I will visit them and check. By the way, would you know if warranty will be affected by changing the head unit?

Thanks for the suggestions sir. I'm more concerned about the rear cam and waze though rather than the sound quality. I was really into stereos before, although it was at home and not for vehicles, and I know it is a money pit so I would rather not get into it haha.

On this topic, anyone knows stores that will allow or have demo units of these pioneer head units before purchase?

Yung ayaw ko kasi sa touchscreen baka mabagal and laggy yung mga interface (of course, slow/laggy is slightly subjective din, so I'd like to be able to test sana before I make a decision).

The stores I've gone to, walang available na demo units e.

Pag may BT yung model.. means may bluetooth yun.. so cheapest among them is the 205BT. Sa sound quality almost same lang yan..

I am planning to replace the stock headunit of my 2016 ls-a isuzu mu-x. One of the reasons is that I want to have the screen mirroring function which unfortunately my mux doesn't have.

Is pioneer avh-z5050bt a good option? Do I really need to connect my android phone to the HU via usb cable in order for waze to play on the display of the HU? Or is there a way without using usb cable?

    Thanks for the inputs guys.

I think you are better of with an Android HU and install waze/google maps(then hotspot your phone)
Pioneer HUs rely on Apple Carplay/Android Auto when it comes to navigation.
