    Hi!

I started playing a friend's samples of his music mixes,
mostly new wave music and music from the 80s.

Sound quality from the car's audio system is good IMO,
bass is ok. The car is a 95 Corolla GLi, with stock Alpine HU
and stock Alpine front and rear speakers. The car's insulation
from outside noise is good, too.

Btw, i play the mixes via an iPod and an FM transmitter.

I am no audio expert, but i love the way I hear the kalansings
and different instruments used in the songs I listen to.
And in the 2-3 weeks I have been listening to the mixes,
I have come to realized that I'd like to upgrade my car's audio system
for better sound quality and better sound pressure level.

I would love to hear from our friends here who are into such.
Your suggestions would help me get started in this wonderful
    world of car audio.

    TIA!

    X's:

I plan to do the upgrade piece by piece, or as a whole,
as the availability of free money would suggests.

    Again, TIA!

Do it all at one time for the best results.

As for what to do... you'll need to mention a budget level you want to spend on this project of yours.

    Hi Ghosthunter!

That part, i forgot! Perhaps, an initial 15 to 20K?
Or is that too low a budget?

Actually 15 to 20K is pretty much fine if you aren't going for some sort of onboard video system for your car.

You can go to Auto-Centro in Cubao and look for the shop SUN-X. Look for ERIC. Shop tel 911-2221. He can advise you on the stuff you would like to have installed in your car that would fit in your budget.

He could also extend your budget by doing a trade-in of your existing stuff as well.

    I remember Auto-Centro, near C.O.D.!
Though I cannot remember the shop I went to,
this is where I asked for a goose neck for my Sony Discman,
for the very first car i purchased with my own money,
a Lancer GSR boxtype owned by the father of a friend!

Thank you for the contact info on SUN-X and Eric, Ghosthunter!

Will be dropping them a visit soon!

I've read the threads on ACA and Jeff Tan.
    Thank you for the recommendation!

The stock Alpine HU on my car, is it a good HU?
Probably not? It has a casette deck.
But I really love this HU. When i was in college,
eto yung "uso" na nakikita sa mga kotse.

I forgot to mention, may CD changer pala yung
car. Though I use the iPod most of the time when I listen
    to the mixes.

    Thanks!

Just a thought, in light of my plans to upgrade
the car's audio system, would it be possible that
I get to use my current Alpine HU?

    Or kailangan palitan na talaga?

I would suggest to change the HU for best results. Since you use an iPod already, best to get a HU with iPod connectivity.

Personally I have been using Pioneer HUs and they never dissappoint.

Got it! Will follow your advise, Ghosthunter!

I see that the Pioneer HU suggested by Heavin Rio
is Php7900. That leaves me with 12K.

Is 12K still feasible for whatever else I am going to need?

Do i still need to get front and rear speakers, separates
(I don't know what these are - just read about them),
coaxial cables (dont know these either) subwoofer, tweeters,
    and an amplifier?

I've read about a sound processor (EQ) at this thread,

    http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11301

and with hope, will be on my Christmas list this December 2010.
