Can you suggest a good 6.5inch speakers with a good thumping bass? i am not planning to put a sub because i need the space. Anyway, i changed the stock front speaker with a sony xplod XS-GTF1027 4inch 2 way speaker. I am thinking of getting sony xplod or pioneer 6.5 for the rear. i just dont know what to get, my initial budget is 5k. By the way my HU is a pioneer deh-1550ub.

    follow-up questions.
    1. what kind of speaker should i use on the rear considering that i am looking for that boom-boom factor without using a sub? coaxial, midrange, component, 1 way, 2way, 3 way etc??
    2. is my front speaker sony xplod XS-GTF1027 enough or should i change it?
Well, if you're just going to use it for bass duties, save yourself some cash and just purchase a midbass if you could rather than the entire set.

Hi guys, I'm planning to change the speakers of my montero. Question lang, ano pinagkaiba ng 2 way, 3 way, etc sa coaxial and seperates. Ang alam ko lang kasi is separates sa harap tapos coaxial sa likod. TIA

Coaxials and Separates are classifications of speakers according to their proximity of their drivers from one another.
    1. Separates means a speaker set with a separate tweeter and midbass.
    2. Coaxials means that the tweeter and midbass is mounted quite near from one another, if not on top of each other.

2-way, 3-way are classifications of the number of drivers and their responsibility.
For example,a tweeter doing the highs and the midbass doing the mid/bass is a 2-way. A tweeter doing the highs, a midrange doing the mids, and a midbass doing the lows is a 3-way. A tweeter doing the highs, a midrange doing the mids, a midbass doing the lows, and a subwoofer doing even lower than the midbass is a 4-way.

    Makikiride na din sa inquiry...

So kapag ang auto ko ay may 4 na coaxial speakers, 2 tweeters, one subwoofer, 4-channel amplifier, tama ba yung setup ko? Sabihin na natin na 2 way ung coaxial...

It is hard to quantify "tama ba". Sound is likened to food: unless you've eaten truly great food will you know that it's great. The same principle applies to car audio.

Mostly, in car audio, we keep it simple. No speakers at the back and a simple two-way separates up front with a subwoofer at the back to augment the lower octaves. Most installers and what most people would go for is the usual installation of separates up front and coaxial at the back.

question is will it make any difference kung high-level input ang sinunod ko na wiring which is naka tap sa wires ng speaker?

    thanks po

If you have a low-level input, might as well use it over the high-level inputs. The reason for this is that most low-level inputs sent from the head unit are.. well, bass sounds purely as the filtering is done by the head unit (which you can adjust on your head unit).

Wala naman rin problema if you use high-level inputs.. however, this is tricky. Not all head units throw a full-range signal sa mga high-level inputs (speaker-level) and most stock head units actually have built-in filters so that your stock midbass won't try to do anything lower than 100hz in most cases. But if the signal's a full-range, you simply need to make sure you have a low-pass filter (LPF) so that you can filter the sub-bass only sounds. If not, your subwoofer will be doing a full-range 20hz-20khz. It won't damage your speaker naman as in reality, it won't reach that high up because they're limited to around 1khz due to mass weighing them down (analogy: a heavy cone cannot move 20,000 times a second.. it's too heavy) however, it's not nice too for subwoofers to play outside their intended range (200hz and below) because.. well... it's not pleasant.

Masmasaya nga yun morato wake up the whole neighborhood It wouldn't really matter as your wake-up-the-neighborhood-type of setup can easily transform into your everyday car. Just lower the amplifier's gains.

*jhnkvn, is there a big difference in terms of output / sound quality ang coaxials vs separates?

Theoretically, coaxials are better in a true SQ perspective thanks to point-sourcing. Whereas in separates, you'll have to take care on how the tweeter and the midbass is playing. Unfortunately, not many people want to throw 6.5" coaxials at the front of their dashboards... so, yes.. separates is still a better option in a car.

Our ears are insensitive to the location of bass. This is why you can have your computer's subwoofer at the floor and still feel the boom-boom.. and how you can throw a subwoofer at the back of your car. However, if you put your desktop speakers at the floor, you will hear the music coming FROM the floor. How our brain perceives sound waves differs. This is why a separate component is ideal to a car. You mount the tweeter high-up near the dash para ear-level while your midbass is at your doors. At the very least, what you hear is somewhere in the middle of the dash and the speaker... not music coming completely from your legs.

Confirm where they got it. Ace, Blade, etc. these hardware stores aren't what we call trust-worthy when it comes to car audio goods. Mas maganda parin that you go to Banawe or find an authorized distributor or reseller of the product you're searching.

There was a time when Blade was caught selling fake Elettromedia Hertz (HERTZ by Elettromedia - Special Car Stereo) products.

    hello, good day tsikoteers.
I was going to canvass for a new set of front speakers and the shop owner recommended the buddy dominations seperates.
Anyone with an actual experience with the buddy speakers?
    thanks.

Trust me, in the sub-10k speaker category, most of them are so similar that it's frightening. There are differences in sound but that's thanks to speaker materials where the majority are made of either PP (Polypropylene) or paper. Their crossover networks are geared for mass production and isn't what you call unique to each one.

In any case, go for it.
