Incremental Stock Upgrade for Civic 2001

Hi,

I've read the car audio set-up for newbies thread and it sounds logical to upgrade stock incrementally. I just had my HU(Clarion model DRB3675) serviced so I might stick it out for a while.

Since the next step would be to find a sep, I've read a lot about cheap targas especially the x-series. Any shops along Araneta/Banawe for a good deal? Nabasa ko lang sa shop ni Jeff Tan. Any other alternatives? Aside from Targa, ano pang ok na nasa same price range?

By the way, I'm wondering if my HU can handle the sep. I'm not sure if I'll buy an amp for now. Lastly, I'm leaning towards SQ rather than SPL.

Update:

Personal preference/requirements:
1) Leaning towards SQ but would also like some bass.
2) 10-15k budget for mid-quality audio setup(amp + sep + sub). I'm retaining my HU for now. The cheaper though the better since I'm saving some moolah for my US trip din
3) A little brand conscious(tipong middle-end). That's why I was leaning towards the Kicker setup.
4) Value for the moolah I'll spend.

Anyway, I went to a couple of shops in banawe this afternoon and here are some of the quotations I got:

1 Kicker Subwoofer 12" - P3,000 (wala daw nakalagay kung saan ginawa. May fake ba nito?)

The thunder audio setup was rather enticing since it included 2 12" subwoofers. Kaso 120W lang and I haven't really heard of it before. Ok na ba ang 120W?

I was able to audition the Xmax medyo malakas iyung bass for me. Pede naman daw i-tono for SQ.

Iyung Kicker kaya na 3k peke? It didn't specify which country it was made daw kasi. Ok din ba ang kicker na seps? Or would you recommend other alternatives?

Anyhow, would really appreciate some suggestions and inputs re: the 3 setups. I was also wondering if isang sub lang, mas good buy ba if 15" na lang rather than 12"?

your clarion HU can handle it even if not amplified. Pero mas ma mamaximize mo yung sound output nyan if you have your doors deadened. I deadened my doors with X650-c seps. Kahit hindi amplified and kahit wlang subs ganda tumunog!

Anyway, actually nabasa ko na re: dai-chi, mega. I went there last saturday kaso iyung labor nila 300. Tapos tinanong ko if maikakabit nila...sabi kailangan pa daw ng spacer so dagdag pa. Sa Banawe 1,800 lang siya kasama na labor. Marami na rin nga ako narinig re: Targa seps. Anyway tanong ko na rin. What if gusto ko pa ng subs. Doon sa first setup, instead of the kicker seps, palitan ko ng Targa seps + kicker subs. Ok kaya na combo ito?

Re: deadened. Sinabihan din ako ni Jeff last Saturday dito. Pero sabi niya tingnan ko daw muna if hindi naka deadened iyung doors. Thanks for the tip though
