Yup, I guess this further differentiates the M3 sedan from the rest of the 3-series sedan models.

The regular 2008/09 3-series might get the coupe's rounded grill, but based on the spy photo, it will retain the old sedan lights.

Which actually fits below the hood.

But the M3 does use the bulge for some extra cooling, and as a reminder that it has a honking big engine inside that engine-bay.

The coupe really looks better, the front of the M3 sedan doesn't flow quite smoothly with the rest of the car. Still it looks good and I'd still take it over the C63AMG.

^^I Like that picture of the M3 coupe.

Nah I think it's for the "M V8" badge. Notice the bulge is roughly on top of where the badge would be.

Hmmm... to avoid scratching it when the engine starts up?

Yes, the V8 fits under the hood, but don't forget the big 18 liter airbox that sits on top of the engine.

Naaaah... BMW just needed an excuse...

"Sir, the V8 engine fits perfectly! No modification required!"

"But we need to make sure people know this is an M3!"

    "Hmmmm...."

"Wait, what kind of airbox are you putting in?"

"We were thinking about doing a twin cold air system integrated into the grille"

"Forget that! Put a honking big airbox on top!"

    :hysterical:

    ------

But man, I can't wait to see this car in person... M3s have always given me the chills... especially when I raced one (or tried, anyway... my car was nearly stock at the time) at the BRC... he just stuck his foot to the floorboards and all the glass panels in my car shook to the sound of his straight six revving to high heavens (he had no mufflers on... ). I stuck onto his tail for half-a-lap before he left me down the main straight...
