Between the two, I would get the Civic. Downside with the SIR, it's an expensive ten year old car. You can save a few more bucks if you pick a VTi instead.

The Civic SIR will be cheaper to maintain, no questions about that one.

As for "may dating", the 316/E46 will have an edge simply because it is a BMW. But as a BMW, the 316 is a cramp, slow to accelerate, heavy to steer, expensive to maintain piece of automotive crap. The BMW's favorite phrase of "ultimate driving machine" doesn't even come close to be applicable to it.

Also, the 316/E46 came with rather dull looking wheels. You might be lucky if your 316 already has the clear signal lights instead of the amber ones that came with the earlier release model. To make this car look better, you'll need to upgrade the wheels, maybe similar to what would be found on the M3 or 330 and have the same bumpers and other external trims done in the same fashion as well.

Let's just say that your max budget would be 450k.

Within your choices, I'd be having the SiR. But mind you, it's going to be hard for you to look for a fresh, untouched, stock SiR. Most of them are modded and sometimes, raced.

Within your 450k budget, there are other alternatives that you could opt for. In example of this would be the Civic ES 01~05.

Why not BMW ? Check GH's post.

For the same budget (450K), you can buy a 2003 Camry 2.0 or even negotiate for a 2004 Camry 2.4L.

Although the 2003/2004 Camry might not be "sporty", with a little investment into a good set of big wheels (like 18s, stock wheels were 15 or 16), it can still look great.

I remember back in 2008 I was choosing between a used 2001 BMW 318i or a new Civic FD. I got the Civic FD, initially I wanted the BMW. But my dad told me the inconvenient truth! He said I wanted to buy the used 318i just because its a BMW not because it will be better for me or will suit me. Deep down me, I know he was right. So I ended getting a new Civic FD as my 1st ever car bought with my own money...

Sabi nga nila, BMW tatak pa lang porma na. Basically, this can turn everyone's heads.

Not all would appreciate the SiR badge in the trunk lid nor the DOHC VTEC decal in its doors. On sheet metal skin, it's just an ordinary Civic. I can even have an EK LXi 99 up model be converted to "look" like one.

i would get the SiR over the BMW. what you will be buying if you'll choose the 316i is the badge. of course it's a more head-turner than the SiR for ordinary folks. but if you're a car enthusiast, you'll be thinking all good/bad points of the cars, and in the end, you'll conclude that the SiR is a better car.

unless your ultimate purpose is to be a head-turner for ordinary folks, you should get the BMW. any other purpose, go for the SiR.

don't you have any other choices? with 450K budget, you have a wide variety of 2nd hand vehicles to choose from.

both vehicles will be faster than your SlowUV, but SiR would be a better choice than 316i IMHO

With the BMW, you're getting a 3-series, which is a fine-handling, good-looking car. It's also heavy, underpowered, gas-guzzling and cramped.

The SiR is more fun to drive, but it's over ten years old. There are a lot of newer cars you can buy for the same money that, while not as quick on the highway as an SiR, will be much more comfortable and practical.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Pang "show off" car?

The BMW will be an expensive car to maintain. But definitely commands a "dignified presence".

The SIR Civic, IMO, appeals like a "boy toy".

If your a professional, I would choose the German-badged. Fully restored, its "retro nice" compared to the more common Japanese sedan.

Sino may dating? BMW syempre. Kahit E36 may dating parin.

My dad's BMW 3-series just came back from a check at BMW casa.

The driver handed me a quotation of stuff "recommended" to be replaced.

Two pages later, the total was P120,000... without labor yet.

Among others listed, the front lower arm assembly - P18K each and both needs to be replaced.

are you willing to pay for that with a BMW?!

SiR ka na, or even better, look for other 2nd-hand vehicles.

IMHO the GSX is a good buy. It's relatively new.

I never had problems with my GX so far.

    Congrats and enjoy the Sentra.
