Avanza DIY: Protection for Wires??? [Help please!]
Hi guys!
I took photos of the wires sa engine bay I noticed na yung mga end exposed. Sa inyo din po ba the same? Puroy mentioned something about "heat shrink rubber caps" meron ba yung sa inyo???
Pa-post naman ng pics nung sa inyo. Meron na bang nag DIY nito? Please share.
After the MIL problem plan ko sana takpan yung mga ends para mas secured. I bought an electrical tape today but hindi ko pa nalalagyan. Is it safe to cover the end ng wires with electrical tape? ganon kasi ginawa sa casa.
Can someone suggest a better way to secure/protect these wires without voiding the warranty.
Please indicate model and year nung sa inyo. Mine is

Aren't they sealed by the blue parts as the wire enters the connector?
Heat shrink can be bought sa raon. It's just like sealing those mineral water caps. Just put the heatshrink in the desired area, blow with a heat gun and the heatshrink will shrink and conform to whatever you intend to protect. Look under the dash, heatshrink is the OEM method of 'taping' wires. You don't see them using electrical tape in the factory.

My theory is this: since naka-ilang balik na sa casa ang tatlong ACP Members na nagkaroon ng ganyang problem, siguro nahugot ang mga wires dahil sa bara-barang trabaho ng mga casa mechanics. They might be pulling on the wires instead of the plugs when they unplug the sensors.
Hindi pala nila ina-unplug, ina-UNWIRE pala nila.

They won't notice the heatshrink. It's less noticeable than electrical tape and it's what they use at the factory for the other parts of the wiring.

Electrical tape looses adhesion in time.
Heat-shrink tubing looks nice but doesn't really seal good ... esp. if there are ridges on the surface to be sealed (like automotive connectors).
Self-amalgamating tape (or rubber tape) is very good at waterproofing connections. You stretch it a bit and wrap it like an electrical tape ... and eventually the layers will merge together.
Lifespan is very good. I always use it on RF connectors (eg antennas) which are constantly at the mercy of the elements. There was this 10yr old seal that I knifed and found the connector still looking brand new.
