What did you want to know about the liquid insulators? I'm not an expert on that though, but I can look up resources online [/quote]I think this is the easiest way and probably most economical to insulate our Avanzas. My observation with the Avanza J, I find the cabin very noisy when cruising at high speed on slightly rough road and It was annoying, that's why I'm thinking of putting some insulators.

Marfin was the one who spearheaded this insulators but its more of a heat insulators. I'm still waiting for a concrete result because they're saying that they have reduced the noise somehow by putting these heat insulators.

I saw this liquid insulator from my previous ride honda city (also an economical car) underneath my carpet I'm pretty sure it's for sound deadening because it's inside the cabin, if it is undercoating it should be outside the vehicle. Maybe this is the solution to reduce the noise level.

Btw, I'm still happy with my car for being fuel efficient, especially nowadays we have this non stop oil price hike.

Keep on posting, it really helps us a lot.

You might want to invest some money into insulating the transmission tunnel that runs to the rear of the cabin, that part can also be a major source of noise. The doors of most cars today have really thin sheetmetal, so adding some form of insulation also helps there (sound insulation). Since sound waves carry some energy, insulators can also dampen heat and sound at the same time.

The hood pad I installed on my car is there to primarily dampen engine noise, engine heat as well as keep the heat in to facilitate good operating temperatures and making it more fuel efficient. Although it may seem negligible, the material becomes handy in the long run. There won't be any immediate effects but if you measure the cabin or engine noise before and after, you should see some sort of difference.

In the end you can't really do much unless you tear apart the whole interior, load it up with insulating material, including the doors, seams, floorboards, transmission tunnel, firewall and rear deck. Don't forget that the weatherstripping material on doors is also subject to sound transmission so ensure that they have a good seal.

Actually if it helps, some cars even have asphalt material as sound deadening material. Fellow W123 owners have said that the cars do have this material, no wonder these ones weigh in around 1.5 tons empty, considering that your City probably weighs only 1 ton.

It's not cheap to apply liquid sound deadening material that hardens (somewhat) after application: http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_24

I guess if you want to play you really have to pay...

Trade off on weight and noise insulation. Between the two, I might choose less weight for the FC. Sa mahal ba naman ng gas ngayon

Although, I m considering deadening on all 4 doors Audio concerns.

I don't hear much sound of the rolling gears of transmision and differential and even the engine, sometimes I'm depending on the tacho to know the engines speed because it's so quiet. The engine of Rav 4 is much noisy compared to avanza maybe because its engine is a lot bigger. What I hear is the rumbling sound of the body when you hit a quite dip pothole or uneven or cracked surface of road during high speed cruising. It seems my body is shaking or trembling during those road impacts.

I think it's an asphalt material that I saw in my city or perhaps eDead paint or whatever you call it. Are these eDead paints available in paint store here? If so, is it easy to apply or does it require skill, and how long will it dry?

Oh well, I guess Ziebart is doing this kind of treatment, I wonder how much if I get their services for this.

    Sorry ah dami ko tanong....

I wish I could answer your questions, sadly my car never needed extra sound deadening material so I never inquired. Maybe members there can help you source them out.

However I think your problem is not sound deadening, but structural rigidity. Sadly the only way to go about that is to reinforce the chassis, which means more weight. I hate to be the one to say this but I don't think it was in the design of the Avanza to be as rigid as other cars would have been.

Naintindihan mo ba kong anong pinagusapan natin dito... diba!

By the way, hindi kowboy ang tamang spelling

Naintindihan mo ba kong anong pinagusapan natin dito... diba!
