Bihira ko naman i drive si Vanzie sa gabi so I would not have a clue if it happened na before.

That is serious. Were you driving it hard when the malfunction indicator light turned on?....

Also, did you attempt to turn-off the engine and start it again? (Resetting the system)

If the light is still turned on today,- bring it immediately to Toyota...

Hi CVT. We were on our way back from the cemetery.....traffic was terrible and max speed would have been bet. 40-60kph. There is one incident, though, that I noticed my rpm reached 3k for a few sec-that was when I was on my way out of the petrol station. Several minutes after that I noticed, for the first time, the light flashed for a few seconds. I maintained my speed bet 40-50kph for about 20 mins and the next time the light appeared was when I was approaching a stop light (again it went out after a few sec.) When we reached Roxas Blvd I tried to speed up a bit, 70kph max, to see if the light will activate....it did not. Yesterday, I drove to the mall ~ malfunction light did not appear. This morning my uncle drove our car to the airport ~ malfunction light did not activate and accdg to him the engine seems ok.

Hi, Prenster. kaka-pms lang ni Vanzie kaya hindi pa ako naglilinis ng engine bay! In fact, the only thing na ginawa ko after the PMS is check if may naiwanan silang trapo or other objects sa loob ~ good thing wala naman.

So far di pa ulit nag-aactivate yung malfunction light...itatawag ko in a while sa casa for some advice....

Uuuyyyy kakainggit naman!!! Haaayyyy naku up to now yung right doors pa lang ang nalalagyan ko ng wax....Prenster, meron pa rin dito sa Concorde SM North na NuFinish in can 399 pesos.

hmmm I called up the SA na kausap ko nung nagpa-pms ako and he told me they will test it with IT2 machine to trace the source of the problem. Accdg to him medyo matatagalan daw yun and in some cases kailangan pa iwan yung car overnite....kung loose wiring lang daw madali lang pero kung nginatngat daw ng daga eh hindi na daw covered ng warranty! Huuuuwaaaaatttt tinakot pa ako....hehehe syempre natakot naman ako....

Anyway, I called up the other casa where I regularly go and spoke wid "my" SA (hehehe personal SA). He advised me that sandali lang daw yung actual test pero yung result hindi nya masabi how long before maging available!!! They will use the same machine. hmmmm tsk tsk tsk.... i told my SA na gusto ko panoorin yung gagawin nila and wala naman violent reaction.

Based sa experience namin ni _qwerty_, this is not true.

Ang root cause at during the PM ay nagagalaw ang wiring sa temperature sensor after the air filter. Lalo na pag nagpalit ng spark plugs or during engine cleaning.

Almost sure ako na tayong 3 have the same problem.

Usually mag disconnect ka ng negative terminal to reset ang ecu pag nagpalit ka ng let's say, air filter, fuel pressure regulator, or related things para pag restart mo the ecu will "think" na di alien ang bagong pyesa. It doesnt matter whether 5, 20 mins or 1 hour mo disconnect ang negative terminal. Pag di talaga nawala ang check engine lights, chances are, there is a faulty sensor or component na ang engine diagnostics lang ang solution sa casa hindi pwede sikip or silip lang. Lalo sa areas ng Air intake ang sensor nyan sa mass air flow is a fine wire na very sensitive kaya pag nagagalaw ng alanganin, will give erratic readouts, sa vanzy ata Throttle position sensor sya then me air meter sensor un nasa back ng air filter box natin. Sa mga mitsu (sorry OT) me mass airflow sensor ang mga yan kaya very sensitive pag dumumi ang air filter.

The error code may be cleared kaso dahil sa may problem sa sensor, iilaw pa rin ang check engine light.

I did the removing of the negative terminal of the battery. Did not work.

Question: What is a mass airflow sensor?

The problematic sensor was an air temperature sensor after the air filter.
