Default Amateur painting DIY for the Avanza.

For me this is a simple pero major project.

After removing the battery terminals (positive first), battery clamp and the battery it self. this is what I have found:

    After removing the battery tray:

After using a paint brush to remove some of the dust:

Yes it its corroded. this is casued by the battery acid falling on the tray and then going into the metal part.

    painting using hi-temp paint:

    after 3 layers:

    battery tray installed.

The "head" of the bolts and washer are also rusted. Planning to replace them later with a stainless hex bolt. this is the bolt in the tray. Unfortunately it is a sunday so I was not able to buy more bolts and stainless washer.

Battery, battery clamps and battery terminal clamps returned.

    Lessons learned:
    1. for best results, all original paint must be removed
    2. turco dries best over night. i waited for 3 hours only
    3. socket wrench with rachet is the best tool.
    4. I should have use flat black not glossy black for the hi-temp spray paint.

Ang tamang kulay ay parang dark green. black lang kasi available ang hi-temp paint ng bumili ako sa ace. Anyway, tago naman. ang purpose ko ay para hindi lumala ang kalawang.

I think, lahat ng local avanza has the same color sa engine bay.

Another option is to use a clear quick drying enamel spray paint over the original black color to make it glossy. I use the same spray paint with my mud guard which makes it more resistant to sticky and stuborn mud...hehehehe
