Thumbs up Avanza DIY: Replacing Headlights

Here's how to replace our beloved ride's headlights...

    You'll need the following:

    • Replacement H4 bulbs
    • Two fingers, preferably thumb and index finger
    • Good lighting (daylight or flashlight
    • Courage
    • A little strength

Let's begin the walkthrough for one (1) headlight...

    1. Pop the hood.

    2. Locate the back portion of the headlight. Identify the modular plug:

    3. Remove the modular plug (just pull it out gently, moving it a little bit from side to side):

    4. Locate the protruding rubber so you can use it to pull off the rubber cap/cover (my index finger is touching it here):

    To be continued...

    Part 2:

    5. Pull off the rubber cover:

    6. Here's a view of a partially pulled off rubber cover:

    7. Set aside the rubber cover in a safe place:

    8. View of the naked headlight from the back, after removing the rubber cover:

    9. Closer view:

    To be continued...

    Part 3:

    10. Begin removing the locking clip by pinching inwards:

    11. Locking clip unlocked:

    12. You can now pull out the H4 bulb:

    13. Here's the H4 bulb in all its glory, hehehe:

    14. Put in the replacement bulb, and reverse the process from Number 12 to Number 1... Be careful in re-inserting the rubber cover, make sure it's centered, so that it will not get snagged on the connector pins of the bulb:

Walkthrough is done. Now, you may go buy your preferred replacement bulbs.
