I just would like to ask your suggestions or your usual practice on car paint maintenance.....

I'm really concerned with my new car (3weeks old), I've just got it car washed 3 times since I had it..

    Well, here is my situation....

I park my car in a compound with 2meter width entry, I don't have a space to wash it myself due to space constraints, I don't consider it washing outside the gate since a lot of vehicles pass by and the road is, well lets say, a bit narrow-when two cars going on opposite direction, they have to slow down almost to stop and slowly maneuver so as not to scratch each other....I've tried to wipe the car before leaving using a damp cloth, but I'm not contented, I'd like to bathe it.. but since I can't, I have no choice but to wait till next car wash.. I'm not at ease with this, every time I see my car dirty, I'd like to wash it meticulously, but I can't....What would you suggest?

What washing methods would you suggest for paint, engine and interior?

I'd be glad to hear from you....

    Thanks..... c",)

And one more thing, if it's ok.... hehe...

I've observed that my car have scratches and swirls already, I don't know where I got it, but thank god it did not penetrate to its metal.... maybe it got accidentally scratched by the children playing, may mga bata kasi sa next door neighbor, baka nasagi or something while playing...

Well anyway, since no choice talaga, di maiiwasan, how do I deal with these scratches? do I have to bring it to the casa for scratch removal? or wax it perhaps?

    Suggestions please....

    Thanks.. again.....

Get yourself a car cover to protect the paint. Dont wipe that paint w/ cloth to remove dust, even the smallest grit can scratch car paint.

I know the feeling of having a brand new car, but dont over do the paint (clean), still fresh.

    i know how that feels...

well tama po, get a car cover. if scratches is the prob, get the kobe 3 layer cover paraiwas gasgas.

im no expert to car detailing but here's what i do:

    engine:
3M degreaser for the metal and rubber parts then 3M glass cleaner for the plastic parts (pwede sa plastic) then rinse with spray (yung para sa garden)

    interior:
vacuum every week, then every 6 months apply upholstery clleaner (polyglaze) then clean the glass nad plastic parts by 3M glass cleaner.

    exterior/paint:
polyglaze car wash, and federal tire black (inuubos na lang to get the foam type) then turtle hard shell wax the car every other week. every 6 months spot for stains and use turtle wax bug and tar remover. lastly, cali duster everyday.

its ok that your space restraint , we have the same prob almost a foot apart lang yung wall to car. its not easy but its worth it. small buckets lang gamitin para hindi gaano mahirap umikot ikot sa car. then get yourself the protable vacuum... meron sa mga ace 1k -2.5k each.

    hope this helps.

this one works for me (after eight years, my original car paint is still shiny):

    a) At least once a week washing
    b) At least once a week waxing
    c) QD in between
    d) Car cover to protect against elements (since my car is parked outside of the garage).

    Ceddie,

Be Careful nga pala sa pagpunas..
    I Use Microfibers only..
Washing - Microtex Washmit or ARIX Foam
Drying - Microtex (Waffle type yung fabric) or ARIX Chamois
    Dust - UBL Microfiber
Yun po gamit ko.. no scratches and swirls for DIY Carwash..

    Archie,

sir, why get it sa casa when you can get it outside at a cheaper price. car cover is something that will not void your vehicle's warranty. i suggest buying it elsewhere and most of them will have your car's size.

what is the color of your vehicle? for those who are lazy to wash their cars, or not place to wash them, they usually opt for the silver color as dirt isnt so transparent vs darker colored vehicles.

just make sure you dont wipe your vehicle with damp cloth to take the dust off as it will give light swirl marks. best thing is to have it pressured car wash and wax it. or better yet, go get the New car paint protection done on your vehicle that will give more protection.

Paint protection is a definite yes.

Kung covered parking, nice to have ang car cover. Pero with kids around, better get one.

CCD is very good for in between washes kung alikabok lang.

ok naman po yung 3M glass cleaner... hindi ko pa natry ibang products pero kung maubos na... try ko yung mothers. yung clear view daw matapang eh and hindi pwede sa plastics and metal... yung 3M halos all around kaya trip ko.

what i did before was, if i really need to wash the car and masikip sa garage and masikip yung 2-way na daan sa labas, i wake up very early just to wash the car outside. tinataon ko sya dun sa time na hindi pa busy yung road outside. i usually do it during coding days para isang gising na lang ng maaga for the week. hope makatulong.

Go to reputable carwash, minsan kasi sa mga carwaher boy nakukuha ang swirls..bara-bara kung tumira yung ibang carwashers.

Since you got a brand new car, try to invest on proper cleaning towels and waxes.

I have tried a lot of waxes but I'm satisfied now with synthetic wax. Synthetic wax is more cost effective and less applications needed.

I'm using now NU Finish Synthetic wax, it may not be once a year application as the bottle says but it works wonder for me, since it's been six months now since I have applied it. When the car is too dirty after running in the rain and muds, I just use MF towel and garden hose to wipe out the dirt, no shampoo needed then dry it with full size Micro fiber bathtowel (available sa True Value)

In your case since maraming bata, just buy a good quality car cover sa True Vakue which is 1/2 the cost of Casa's car cover. (It would not affect your warranty since walang naman warranty ang car paint on swirls and scratches)

(wink, wink)... Hehehe...

Aside: andaming kumokontra sa NuFinish, na-try na kaya nila for their cars, themselves?

Pero after ko ma-try, I'm a convert na hehehehe ...bye bye carnuba wax

what do you mean sa loob? yung painted areas or yung side panels?

kung painted areas, i use bug and tar remover ng turtle wax for the stubborn stains.
