I have a Kawasaki belt-type pressure washer, the type usually found in carwashes. I recently noticed that there was moisture inside the pressure gauge. Is this natural or will it damage the gauge or washer? Is it possible to unscrew and open the gauge so it can be cleaned and dried out?

if its a analog/dial type gauge it is normal, there's no 100% perfect sealed gauge. The gauges we used in our production also have moisture. You cant dismantle it or clean the inside, what we do is take it out, ibilad sa araw and then mawawala na ang moisture. do not try to open it, it will become useless once you open it. it is calibrated to have accurate result

if your really bothered by the moisture, then just buy a new one..the US made gauge use in pressure tank will just set you back around P200+ probably...

Thanks, that's a relief. I was worried that the water would break down the gauge and the pump itself.

Nabili ko sya sa 4 Star Hardware sa Paranaque, near the CAA junction. Around 10 kg/sq.cm. ang pressure nya. Di sya kinakabit sa gripo, lagay mo lng ung intake and "blow out" hoses sa water drum.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll monitor the gauge and see if things get any worse or better. Are these US gauges those off-the-shelf type or do I have to buy one specifically for pressure washers?

the moisture present in your gage doesn't give any damage to the pump. check if the gage cover is the screwed type else don't pry it. dapat kasi hindi natitilamsikan yan... kailangan ilayo mo sa iyong target sa susunod na gamitin mo sya para di madagdagan pa ang moisture.
kailangan ng palitan kung sakaling di na sya gumagana.

Hi, this is what my gauge looks like right now. The springs are clearly starting to rust. Is it possible to unscrew the entire assembly from the washer, and let it dry in the sun, without affecting/damaging the gauge? Also, is it safe/dangerous to operate the washer without a gauge attached if I don't make any changes in the present settings?

guess time to replace it... to me it's not only starting to rust. the spring is already corroded and will give you an inaccurate reading.
baka di mo naman kailangan ang gauge sa system. check if your pump is fitted with pressure relief valve... if you have then just remove and plug it off. kasi factory set na yung output pressure mo, kahit wala yan yun pa rin ang pressure na ibibigay ng pump. pero kung may budget ka no harm in getting a replacement... pwede rin yun dial type basta pareho lang ang pressure range.

Since the gauge is a screw-on type, I was thinking of simply removing it and replacing it with a cap the same way you would replace a household faucet with a plug. I'm also starting to look for replacement gauges at nearby hardware stores in case this doesn't work.
