I don't think this is an ROP (Random Orbital Polisher)... this is a Rotary/ Circular polisher... the difference is an ROP simulates the fast circular motion of your hand (thus, random orbit), while rotary spins on a central pivot.

Since you mentioned your a newbie... I would not recommend that you use a rotary on your car... Rotaries can burn paint when not used by a pro/experienced detailer..

If your budget is within the price you posted, and you want to get a machine locally/ over the counter, you may check out the B&D KP600 applicator for around 3k, or the Bosch Unano (forgot the model #) for around 5k...

The KP600 is great for applying wax but not for corrections...

the Bosch, on the other hand, has way too much power and a requires a little know how to use.

I'm planning to get the infamous PorterCable RO (best for amateur detailers) abroad, some time in December (or earlier, depending on the itch of my idol detailers here), with some guys here. We're thinking of getting one bulk order so we get to save on shipping... You may join the bandwagon if ever...

*watusi/ginnova/ SG ... kung gusto nyo mag-order ng mas-maaga sa December, let me know... so we can talk about the preferred mode of shipping... I thought December coz i know most of us is waiting for that bonus... but should you guys want it earlier, I can always sell my kidney!!!

One time charge lang. Kaya kung oorder kayo, gawin nyo by mid-November para dumating in time for Christmas.

I was checking out other local detailing threads and saw a newbie asking about QD application...

There was a suggestion, that after rinsing the car, before drying... to spray a thin layer of QD on the section you are about to dry, then wipe it dry.

    Is this a good practice?

Swirlx can remove those easily.problem is medyo mahirap i-apply by hand. technique is to apply on a very small area only. sample for the hood, divide it by 12 sections.then work 1 section at a time.start it with light rotations 1st then medium then finish with light rotations. for the whole Innova, it took me 1 day to finish but that's about 3 years of accumulated swirls. you need to practice also procedures of how to prevent inducing swirls else it would be no point of removing them

Tingin ko po sayang lang yung QD. Kasi kung clay yung next stage, QD pa din yung gagamitin diba. Opinion lang.

Mas ok sana bumili ng PC ngayon before oct 31. May 20$ off kasi na coupon code.

Talking about using QD after regular washing... when we use QD to boost the wax or add another layer of protection as a last step... sorry idol kung di clear

I did some research and it seems that it IS an actual practice... the mentioned that the QD lep removive friction from the drying towel when drying one's car...

here's the link to a forum I read...

    http://bbs.scoobynet.com/car-care-38...le-drying.html

here's some excerpts from OGE/OID found in autogeek:

Optimum suggests using the Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer in conjunction with Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine. Use No Rinse as usual but, before you dry the vehicle, spray on some Optimum Instant Detailer. It will create a super slick, incredibly glossy finish.

After washing the car with Optimum Car Wash, spray your vehicle with Instant Detailer as you towel dry each panel. Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer can be used on wet or dry surfaces.

Mga Idol, what do you think of this practice? Parang sayang nga ung QD, plus, if the QD is hydrophobic (like Megs QD), I can't see how the QD will blend well with water...

But when you mentioned how you wanted to use it, its gonna quite pointless to put it on top of a wax because it won't stick because of the wax, BTW i don't like Sonus products that much they dont have that much durability

don't turn car detailing into rocket science ok, i know i might sound the part but hey if your car needs protection then wax it, don't beat around the bush, just do what needs to be done and no shortcuts, its either you're 100% into detailing or not, so if you are into detailing then do what has to be done, wash apply wax, don't over think it, enjoy it!

san ko ba nabasa na sabi eh spray sealant ito....pero from the name spray wax siya....

Meguiars Synthetic X-press™ Spray Wax can be applied in direct sunlight <<<--- eto ang nagustuhan ko dito...any comment on this comrades..

*madkatz ms, tama ba intindi ko spray wax ito judging from the name...

with regards, to spray sealant parang ok siya since mas mabilis i-apply...how about naman yung durability kaya nito same din kaya nung sealant na applied using yung pad..

or sealant booster lang din..i guess yung spray sealant...

    *madkatz ano po yung IPA?

saka ask ko na rin kasi balak ko mag double wax or combo wax (what ba tamang term since sealant namn i-apply ko)

kasi forgot between the two pre-cleaner wax or cleaner wax ang papahiran mo after ng isoprophyl alcohol before mo i-top ng sealant..

balak ko kasi mag apply ng carnauba cleaner wax then carlack long life sealant...pahiran ko pa ba ng isoprophyl alcohol in between...

meron akong carlack AIO (pero parang gusto ko na lang gawin QD ito) since before kasi nag-apply ako ng carnauba cleaner wax and for me ok ang finished nya makintab compared sa carlack AI0...

siguro for brandnew cars ok yung combination ng carlack AI0 then top with long life sealant...IMO..

That's what QDs are all about, to lube, to lightly clean, and most often to gloss all at the same time. Using it while drying cuts one step from the process.

after onr, they're drying with OID as a gloss enhancer. After OCWash, they're drying with OID as a lube and gloss.

Mga Idol, what do you think of this practice? Parang sayang nga ung QD, plus, if the QD is hydrophobic (like Megs QD), I can't see how the QD will blend well with water...
That's ok because most QDs are diluted with water.

Megs will probably only remove around 20% of them, SwirlX can remove about 90% of them, SwirlX is better at leveling and correcting the paint it comes at a cost however meaning more clear coat removed but its still pretty safe because its considered a medium polish

Applying a QD to help in drying is actually a common practice, it will really help in improving shine and of course reduce friction, but if you're already using a drying towel thats soft enough then it would be pretty much ok to dry the whole car and then just apply QD, you will have better results with it, but QDing while drying really is a common practice especially recommended for those starting out and learning how to dry without scratching but i believe its sort of cheating

Thats a RP not an ROP, RP is Rotary Polisher, ROP is a Random Orbit Polisher

Its not bad, its basically a lighter version of the BnD if you ask me, at a higher price, so if you're gonna use a polisher every few months getting the BnD is better to save money but if you're using it for a long time then the Skil is better because its lighter
