    Hello there.

Binuhusan mo ung radiator ng tubig tama ba? Some say baka lalong makasira un ng rad since nagoverheat ka nga and binuhusan mo ng tubig. You know, the reaction of hot metal when mixed with water.

Anyway, if ever cylinder head mo nga may problema and mapagawa mo sya, kelangan patingin mo na din ibang cooling system components mo to be sure. Actually, yung cyliner head replacement na pinakamahal among all components. Here are other parts that you should check.

    1. radiator
    2. aux fans
    3. thermo switch
    4. thermostat
    5. water pump

Oto ko kase LX naman and I had overheating problems before. Checked all those 5 components and so far ok na sya. Hope this helps.

Thank u mga Sir for your comments....

i had already check the radiator, n p overhaul ko n..but still mataas p din temperature nya, especially pag akyatin un daan.

thermostat was been remove temporarily, dapat mapalitan din kasi pansin ko nun tinanggal thermostat, naging wet n un usok s muffler. and lumakas n s gaso....

Thermo switch ok p din kasi automatic p din un auxilary fan ko...db un ang trigger for the fan to rotate.

water pump, still have to check it. san kaya located un s engine? near the inlet hose, where the thermostat located.

any suggestion po kaya n reliable shop to fix my car? within manila or bulacan....para lapit lng place ko.
im planning to fix it up this coming vacation.

    tnx a lot.....

Yung water pump nasa bandang timing belt.

May tubig coming from your muffler? May sira na nga ata cylinder head mo. Ibig sabihin kase nyan pumapasok na tubig sa engine mo. I don't think the thermostat has got something to do with that.

As for your radiator, minsan kase kahit na-overhaul na sablay pa rin. Depende din kase minsan sa nag-overhaul. It would be better kung bili ka na lang bnew radiator like Evercool. Mura lang naman sya.

Wala ako alam sa Bulacan or Manila. Maybe you can try Speedyfix sa Santolan. Highly recommended.

What's with the smiley in your post?

Anyway, sometimes the fan(s) fail(s) to turn on time, which causes overheating especially when the aircon is on. Try leaving your aircon on and observe if the fan turns consistently.

Cylinder head problem? I guess that shop is just fooling around with you. Some d*ckhead mechanics find more problems in your car so that you end up spending more. Worse, your overheating problem is not over. The real problem area is probably the last one that shop will fix. Better take your car elsewhere.

kung basa yung exhaust, at the very least siguro busted na yung cylinder head gasket.

i assume nauubusan siya ng tubig very quickly?

if you leave the engine on, with the radiator cap removed, tapos dagdagan mo ng tubig, yung tubig dun sa radiator, does it splash all over the place na patalsik?

makikidagdag lang po...yung pagbuhos ng tubig sa radiator kapag mainit ay hindi recommended...kasi talagang masisira ang radiator. kapag tumataas ang temp, pull over, let the car cool for several minutes, and then open the hood. kuha ka ng basang basahan, ipatong sa radiator cap. allow the radiator cap to cool. kung nahahawakan mo na, tanggalin mo ang radiator cap, fill the rad with clean water, turn on engine, let someone rev the accelerator smoothly while you put water in the radiator. may hangin kasi sa loob ang radiator. pansinin mo kapag nag rev bumababa ang level ng tubig. magkukulang ang tubig kung lalagyan mo ang sasakyan habang patay ito. don't forget to fill the reservoir also upto the max level (wag punuin).

The usual problem with EG Civic radiators is the upper portion (fiber glass) tends to crack and eventually leak. Either have the upper portion fixed or replace it with a surplus radiator for Php 5K or less. Btw, water that goes in the radiator needs to be mixed with engine coolant. Plain water in the radiator is a big no-no.

The hell with those plastic radiator tops. We had ours replaced with a metal one since the leak can no longer be repaired. At least so far, no problems yet.

IMHO those parts aren't designed to last the owner's lifetime.

if you're going to replace the radiator. at least get a brand new evercool.

next, if the head is out then you might as well get an overhauling kit. replace the valveseals and all the oil seals narin sabay sa gasket. best to also have the head checked for warpage and cracks. para isang gawaan nalang and sure ka ok na pagbalik mo.

Mataas nga yan. Usually kase it's just below 50%.

What if d napansin na nagoverheat and continue parin andar? Auto shutoff be engine? (auto shut off kc sira na. wag yun, hehehe). Meron bang work around kung walang systema na ganun? Parang yund DIY intrument/light buzzer for EG. hehe.

yes, it is possible to build a simple circuit as an over-temperature alarm

the sensor is a negative-coefficient thermistor so a simple comparator circuit using LM311 with few other passive components and a tiny 12V buzzer will do the trick

but auto-shutoff of engine, although possible and easy to incorporate to the circuit as well, is not recommended for safety reasons
