Turn off aircon when going up to baguio!!!

marami po ako kilala when they are going up to baguio nagpapatay na sila ng aircon sa akyatan lalo na kung van or auv dala nila. ganito rin po ba ginagawa nyo??? share your experience naman. effective rin daw 2 during break in???

yup, less engine load. the air is gonna be thinner, so mahihirapan comparably yung engine, hence the need to put less engine load for the same performance. the thing is, if you open naman the windows too much because you turned the aircon off, you create a alot of drag, which in effect would also add load to the engine. pero lamig kasi eh ng air sa may paakyat na. hehehehehe.

Kahit hindi pa-akyat kapag gusto ko mas lumakas ang hatak, I turn the A/C off. Then after ng paghatak, saka ko i-ON ang A/C

para less pa sa gasoline. kasi yung cousin ko umakyat sila ng baguio ng walang patayan ng aircon. halos maubos yung gasolina nila. naka fulltank sila bago umalis ng manila.

tama yan kung mangangarera ka turn off mo ac mo tapos lahat ng mabigat na hindi kelangan sa kotse mo tanggalin mo para magaan ang kotse mo tapos bawasan mo yung tire pressure mo para makapit ang gulong mo tsaka diet ka din para bawas sa weight tapos kung drag maganda kung mga 1/8 lang ang gas mo.. basta masmagaan masmabuti

eh di kung ganon tanggalin na din ang aircon. Pero seriously, sa mga underpowered cars lang nga ito uso. Usually kung dala mo mga 2.0 na kotse i don't think na kailangan pa ito. Sa mga bagong labas na mga kotse ngayon, medyo malalaos na ata ang practice na ito.

seriously...sa SUV ko walang patayan ng a/c pero pag naka auv ako patay muna..nakakahiya sa likod napakausok and bagal ng AUV ko nabibitin yung sa likod...baka mauna pa si lolo mag lakad hehe :D

Modern engines can tackle Baguio even with the a/c on basta maganda condition ng engine. Kahit MB100 or Pajero kaya ang Baguio with a/c on.

Pinapatay ko lang a/c kapag walang ibang sasakyan sa harap ko and I want to feel the cool mountain air. :D

ok lang to turn the aircon off, at least hindi hirap yun makina. as far as the drag with the windows open is concerned, i don't think it would be much of a problem, it's not like we could race up to baguio in top speed.

when i drive up to baguio, i pick a constant speed that would be less taxing to my engine. overtaking only if the car infront is unbearable slow. again, it's not a race up to baguio.

i believe my test dati saying that unless a car is going over 55mph, the drag of the compressor will be larger than wind drag. So unless your going around 55mph upwards, dont use ac if engine drag is your concern

i got my best mileage of 12km/L going to baguio (Average of up and down). di ko naman pinatay yung aircon. and my engine has 110,000km+ on it.
