    Gentlemen,

Maybe one of us had experienced this. My family noticed that even though the car engine has been stopped/powered off, one of the radiator fan continues to run. For them to stop it, they have to stop/start the car engine multiple times, sometimes up to 4-6 times, then the radiator fan stops.

They brought it first to Rapide, but unluckily, they do not have an electrician. Now, they are planning to bring the car to the casa but I told them to wait, and I will check this kind of problem here at the forum.

My family car is an old but still reliable Honda Accord 1994 EXI.

Also, please recommend a good garage you Gentlemen knows. Casa, will be the last resort as much as possible.

    Thank you in advance.

    Gentlemen,

Trying to find a garage somewhere in Makati sana. Medyo hirap family ko mag drive sa QC, di kabisado.

Right, possible electrical problem nga sa tingin ko rin.

assuming that all wirings are still in original state, afaik its normal. there's even a sticker at the radiator that "radiator fan may start anytime even while engine is off". we also experience that before on our 94 accord a/t. though the fan shuts off after a few minutes once engine has cooled down.

if the fan doesn't shut off for more than 10mins then there could be a problem with the wirings. the fan is actuated by the thermoswitch so it should shut off automatically.

i've experienced almost the same thing with my kia pride, problem ko is yung auxiliary fan ayaw mg shut off kahit yung engine off and key removed already. an electrician checked the wirings, he found that the fan relay was the problem. i just replaced it ayun back to normal. ahehe forgot ko kung relay nga tawag dun, looks like a small black box (around 1 inch thick and height) with switch like teeth inside. Bosch ata yung pinalit ko

pls observe if it turns off after a couple of minutes. maybe this is the only time that you've noticed it but it could be just normal as the delay is cause by a hot radiator.

dagdag ko na rin, pwede din talaga na mainit yung radiator mo kaya nakabukas sya although engine is off. pero once na you have the ignition switch to off position or the key removed, the fan shoudn't be running anymore. my auxiliary fan was till running when key was removed, so i didn't need to observe if it would turn off after a few minutes. in my case the relay was the problem

This was a feature of my previous car. It even turns on when left in the humid. Also, it takes time before it shuts off after i have left the car. It continually cools the engine bay before it shuts down. The car was an S40.

They turned on the engine, and turned it off and waited till 5 minutes, still the fan does not stop automatically.

    Possible relay problem....

My family also noticed that when you put the key on "accessory", the fan stops. But when they remove the key, the fan runs again....

your radiator fan is controlled by a thermostat, and when you turn off you car, and the radiator is still hot, then the fan will continue to run until it reaches the preset temperature. It all depends how well maintained your radiator, if your radiator is dirty or have gunk inside, it will take a while for heat transfer to occur, thereby prolonging the run time of your radiator fan. Also, the radiator fan will shut off if you uses accessory, so it won't rundown your battery. I hope this will help a little bit in understanding you radiator fan.

    +1

when i had my 96 accord, it would start on its own sometimes if the radiator was still hot or would not automatically shut down after i turned off the engine. try to observe muna, if umabot ng 15 mins and on pa rin, then theres definitely a problem.

sir, just a piece of advise, sa threads re :mga shops to watch out for, frequently mentioned ang rapide, caveat lang http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22437

i used to have my ride serviced by supreme motors along yakal st, behind the makati fire station and i was happy with their service. but again, before doing anything, better observe first, baka mainit lang ang makina kaya it doesnt shut off

Nothing to worry about, unless ayaw talagang tumigil even after 10 mins.

When I bought my 97 Accord in 2005, pinost ko din yung problemang yan sa kotse.com, kasi akala ko malfunction. It's a safety feature to cool down the engine

its a normal operation for the aux fan to run to coolown the engine temp even the engine is turned off... if the fun still runs for more than 10mins try to tap the relay baka kasi ayaw na magrelease nung contact point. if that the case dapat palitan na yung relay. kung wala ng available part like nung relay the best solution is wag nang patayin yung engine ng otto... hehehe... joke lang po
