Do you turn off your aircon blower fans sa likod kung ikaw lang ang sakay? Somebody told me kasi na hindi advisable patayin while the front
is running to prevent coolant clogging sa coil. Better to run daw at low
fan (level 1) rather than totally off. :?

yup yup! <-- mali ako ng intindi. Always ON yung sakin.

dapat palagi din daw malinis yung front passenger side (adv 2002 model) kasi dun nangagaling yung air papunta sa Aircon (something like that.. )

    Dianne,

On the Pajero, I turn it off kasi maginaw. You don't really have to run it all the time. Kahit once a week lang as stated in the owner's manual.

    mackieboy,

Yung a/c kumukuha ng hangin doon sa likod ng glovebox where the blower and the evaporator are situated. Pwede rin siya mag-draw ng air from the base of the windshield (sa labas) if you turn off or move the recirculate lever/button (depending on vehicle). Yung rear a/c kumukha ng hangin doon sa small grilles above the front passengers' heads on the Adventure. Sa Pajero, nakatago sa likod yung intake ng rear a/c and is protected by a steel and plastic mesh filter.

If your rear aircon is equipped with a shut-off valve, ok lang i-off. The valve gets the power from the switch. Pag off ang switch, for the rear, shut off a refrigerant papunta ng rear aircon. Yon sa akin walang valve kaya I keep it sa 1 setting.

Ako pag mainit, i turn the rear aircon on kahit mag isa lang ako. Otherwise lagi syang off.

By the way, may benefits ba kung naka off yung rear aircon? I mean will it help with regards to fuel consumption, hatak etc.?

Very little with regards to fuel consumption. If there's any I think it's on the electrical load.

    thanks for the reply alfrasay.

So it will be more prudent to turn the rear aircon on and have the thermostat on a lower setting rather than turining the rear aircon off and have the thermostat on a higher setting :?:

My apologies kung OT na ha

Maybe the shut-off valves are only present sa SUVs and big Vans. I am not sure if
the AUVs have them. Mine don't.

In terms of fuel consumption, minimal nga lang daw... kasi the thermostat naman for
the aircon (I'm speaking of my adventure nga pala) is at the front, so the turning on
and off of the compressor is govern by the front temp.

Recommended daw kasi ng aircon casa to have the back blower open even at low setting to prevent coolant (or refrigerant) clogging.

    thanks

Mas maganda kung naka on yung blower sa likod. Yung ibang A/C systems kasi walang shutoff valve sa rear unit kaya ang tendency, kahit naka off ang blower sa likod, continous parin yung flow ng freon sa rear evaporator and will probably cause it to clog with ice kasi walang dumadaan na hangin.

kaya i always turn it on.

(i edited my previous post na)

During the whole winter season in Korea, hindi naman ginagamit rear a/c. They use the rear heater instead which is a separate unit mounted on the interior side wall.

Oo nga, Korea-novela lang meron. hehehe.

I let my passengers turn off the rear a/c when they feel cold. Parang wala naman bad effects.
