Do you think it would also contribute to fuel consumption pag palaging umaandar ang radiator fan mo?

when running from a cold start ur van will consume slightly more gas coz it will take the engine longer to reach optimum operating temp..

how about sa mga normal cooling systems, by the time their radiator fan engages, wala bang slight increase sa fuel consumption?

August 22nd, 2005 09:20 PM #6why not lagyan mo ng switch para pwede mo off pa minsan minsan like during cold starts, and pag feeling mo pwede i rest yung fan sandali n di nman magoverheat ang car.
just dont forget to turn it on again

Obvious negative will be possible early wear sa motor ng fan.

wala naman masamang effect kapag palaging naka ON yung radiator fan. ganito din naman ang setup ng mga rear wheel drive vehicles where the fan is driven by the engine.

December 8th, 2005 05:25 AM #9nissan vanette has a "clutch fan" as what you called "engine fan". it is not an electrical device. Higher engine temp expands the oil inside the clutch fan thus initiating the full contact between the fan/water pump pulley and the main engine pulley.
In short, the fan/water pump goes with the engine's RPM.
If the engine is cool the fan is deactivated.
it is designed that way to decrease the bending of the blades during high speeds & to decrease the engine's load if this processes (turning the fan & the water pump) is not needed.
over a long time, the oil loses its consistency & the system fails.
Overheating is almost impossible with a "permanent" engine fan.
The only problem is that the engine "growls" during highers speeds or RPM!
As in maingay! Coz at higher speeds(>80kph) the fan's rpm is slower than the wind speed thus resistance causes the engine to "humm.."
I suggest replace ur clutch fan.... 1,700- 3,000 depending on ur budget!
