Baket kaya amoy vinegar or smelly socks ang aircon ng innova namen?

Nag pa toyota aircare last week. It reduced the smell. But not totally eliminated it. From 10(very smelly) went down to 3.

How can i totally remove the smell?

A more detailed info about the problem.

Every time the car start and turned the aircon (ac on with 22 temp setting, recirculate on , 3 fan setting, Rear aircon off.), after being left for prolonged period. A powerful vinegar or a week worn socks smell. ( i have to open the window just to reduce the foul odor.) But after driving about 10 to 20mins it either vanish or i have adjusted to the smell.

Dirty evaporator have it cleaned at denso makati or reputable aircon shops. The spray method wont cut good old fashioned mano mano cleaning

Habang di pa napapalinis try niyo po i on fan full blast ng matagal, na nakapatay thermostat and slightly open windows. Mas ok nga yata if nasa initan.

Bago ba kotse mo sir? Iwasan mo lang mag spray ng pabango or alcohol. 5-10min before mo i-off ang engine, ilagay mo lang sa fan ang AC mo.

I have the same problem before with my APV, I have it AC cleaned at the dealership, after cleaning Datu Puti is gone,I experienced that AC foul smell few months before I decided for an AC cleaning,I just make sure that no one will use perfume inside the car and before I turn the engine off after a drive I put the thermo to heater mode for a minute or two.

Sa Sonata and Santa Fe ko before turning the aircon off nilalagay ko muna sa heater for about 30 secs. Pag malamig kasi at pinatay nag cocodense yung water sa air parang sa malamig na baso, dun nag sisimula yung sour smell.

    1. is the foul odor, a universal experience among everyone in the car? baka naman, kayo lang ang nakaka-amoy..
    2. have the aircons cleaned. do not forget that there is a rear aircon to clean, as well.
    3. based on your adjectives, i think there may be a dead animal in there somewhere.. problem is, is it in the aircons, or is it somewhere else inside the car?

I have the very exact experience with our Innova 3 years ago.

The culprit - tree leaves and some small flowers entered the aircon duct when I accidentally set the air circulation to get from the outside. These organic matter probably caused some molds to form inside the aircon ducts.

    My solution:

    1. Remove the air con cabin filter and wash (or replace if you do not mind the cost).
    2. Before I turn off the engine after driving, I put the fan into maximum and spray Lysol (with anti molds) into the cabin filter slot. The idea is for the the to suck air and lysol so that it can sanitize the internals.

(Another good suggestion is to park your car under the sun and do number 2. Molds do not like dry environment)

    3. Remember to put back the cabin filter before driving the car.

It took me several days to completely remove the odor. But it has not come back since then.

Pag bago na Toyota usually ganyan daw talaga. Ganyan din yung Wigo, Yaris, at lahat ng Altis namin. Expect mo abutin ng mahigit isang taon bago masanay ilong mo este bago mawala amoy.

Knowing Toyota is World's Most Reputable Company, I'm just speculating here maybe Toyota is not using now a waterbased solution ex. panel adhesives etc... personally, di ko pa naman naexperience may amoy na vinegar sa dating brand new cars ko pati car ng friends & relatives.

The fact na nawala yung amoy nung uminit na ang weather confirms may mold nga sa ac mo. Try to have the evaporator cleaned if the smell comes back. For now, park it for a day under the sun to kill any remaining mold.

Turn off the thermostat and let the blower on max before parking, this will remove cold/moist air inside the system.

Why not try using an antibact deodorizer. Car plan & Ma-Fra has it. What you do is turn on your car a/c to it's highest blower setting, place the can on the passenger side floor then depress the button & shut the door. Let it idle for 10 minutes & the mist circulates throughout the a/c system & disinfecting it.

Put 3-4 pieces of charcoal in a net pouch, make 4 set and leave each under the seat or anywhere you can hide it. Park your car under the sun for sometime, for total vanishing of foul odor. And you can notice wala na ang vinegar smell kahit pa mag-rainy season na ulit.
