fowl smell sa aircon (esp. 2k2 crv owners)

has anyone experienced this...eto yung pag-on mo ng engine tas warm-up muna then pag nakababa na yung rpm needle sa below 1k idling pa konti then on ko na aircon...pag-on iba yung amoy...sobra baho then nawawala na mga after ilang seconds...

also, are you having a hard time starting your car? i mean, sa morning or kahit anong time. Kse minsan hindi ko nagagamit yung auto for like a day tas pag start ko na hirap sya tas kakaiba yung sound. pero pag nastart na tas off mo and you try to start it again ok na, smooth na yung starting...help pls...thanks!!

sa aircon, baka dahil sa air freshener mo...baka wax based. ganon din sa galant ko and sa crv namin eh.

cold starting lang yan bro! hintayin mo mawala yung engine check ilaw bago mo iturn ng todo yung susi, ayos na yan!

yikes!!! sobrang bago pa kotse mo to be having problems....

malamang nga cold starting lang yon. pag d ka naman nagskip ng 1 day e wala naman bang problema?

i've experienced that foul smell sa 2k2 cr-v ko... hindi naman siya oppressive or anything, parang maasim na amoy... it's noticeable, kanina lang napansin ko

is this a defect or something?

Foul smells usually results from the growth of mold sa may A/C. You can remove this by:

1. Having your A/C cleaned at your nearest trusted A/C shop, or
2. Get the old trusted Lysol and with the A/C set to air intake from the outside, spray Lysol from the exterior air intake vents turn the A/C on. Repeat this on a daily basis til the molds die and the foul smell is removed.

I agree with roydok!

Just an FYI..... wala pong cold starting sa Pinas. By definition kasi, ang cold starting happens in freezing weather. Ewan ko lang kung yung cold starting na binabanggit nyo is for the engine (malamig pa yung makina) which shouldn't be the case. BTW, I didn't use my CR-V for a week and one click lang nung ni-start ko this morning 8)

That foul smell could be coming from the sealants they used for sticking those hoses and vents. As I have read before from a topic about CRV 2K2 used cheap plastics in their interiors. Mawawala rin yung amoy after a few months, baka sariwa pa lang yung sealnts kaya malakas ang amoy.

The hard starting part might come from some dew overnight while the vehicle is parked.

experience ko din dito. yung parang vinegar na amoy is from a damp item in your car na nakulob. i used to have this kind of smell na hindi makaya ng ionizer yung amoy. pinalinis ko na rin yung mga aircon vents ko pero nandun pa rin. then i discovered a damp rag sa ilalim ng upuan ko and nung tinanggal ko, nawala na rin yung amoy.

i don't use a waxed-based air freshner...california scents ang gamit ko. about the hard starting naman...inaantay ko muna mawala yung mga lights...ang last na light na nawawala is the srs, pag nawala na yun...saka ko palang start...sama kasi ng tunog eh...bale pag nastart ko na sya once sa isang araw, ok na the rest tas after that pag overnight parking ulit, ganun nanaman...

also, crv owners...do you notice a ticking sound sa crv nyo pag-off nyo ng engine...para bang may time bomb that's waiting to explode...meron yung sakin eh...

yung amoy probably because of the condensation that dries up after you turn of your aircon and car the night before... usually kasi we run our aircons na naka on ang A/C switch.. (separate button switch to than the Blower switch)... this actually makes the air that comes out of your vents colder... pero pag pinatay natin ang aircon and makina.. the cold air left in the tubes and vents condenses.. hence.. parang may nagtutubig.. pag natuyo yun... the next day mangangamoy yan.....

try mo lang.. pag malapit na kayo sa bahay.. turn of the A/C switch and operate the aircon in fan mode... this would dry up whatever cold air there is.. then turn of your engine when you arrive at home.... subukan mo lang.. havent tried this kasi walang separate A/C switch yung wagon kong luma eh...:D

ewan ko lang ha, but i experienced the same smell for the second time today. it's definitely the aircon, and my cr-v has 2700 km on the odo already, and ngayon lang ito lumabas.

my a/c switch is always on and i haven't gotten foul smells in any of our cars and in the cr-v until today... molds nga kaya ito?

the ticking sound is normal. according to ramrac of HCP, it's the exhaust valve doing some tap-dance of sorts...

Yep, I vouch for the effectivity of the Lysol solution to the foul odor
problem. It does work.

problem is...i rarely use my a/c...windows lang me parati....i just use it pag sobra hot na...

also, i have another question...pag nirev ko sya sa 2,800rpm may hissing sound...what is this...?!?

Hindi sa exterior ko ini-isprayan. Sa loob
ako. Sa ilalim ng glove compartment ko
tinatapat yung nozzle.
Also, I also spray Lysol inside the car
at the end of the day. Next morning,
fresco amoy.
Palagay ko yung moisture that breeds those
smelly germs also comes from the moisture
doon sa inaapakan nating floor mat.
OKs yung Lysol. Try the white colored can
na "Crisp Linen" scent.

Just remembered this from my readings.
Very potent pala yang Lysol talaga.
Nabasa ko na yung mga tao sa Center for
Disease Control sa Atlanta ang gamit nila ay
Lysol solution lang. They use that to spray themselves
after getting out of those containment chambers
where they keep those lethal bacteria and viruses
isolated.
Galing, no?
So kayang-kaya patayin ng Lysol yang anghit germs
diyan sa car aircon natin...

TICKING: that's normal. Don't worry (unless your V suddenly explodes) :mrgreen: .

The A/C has two inlets. One is outside at the base of the windshield where the wipers park (those little grilles) and one inside under the passenger side dashboard sa housing mismo ng blower/evaporator assembly. You can do your Lysol treatment in both areas. Just make sure na hindi naka-set sa 'recirculate' ang A/C mo when you treat the windshield vents.

Fowl smell? Wala bang manok sa aircon mo? :mrgreen: (sorry, I couldn't help it).
