I see some people do this. They leave the aircon on, and then turn off the engine. So when they turn on the engine again when they use the car later on the aircon automatically goes on as the engine is turned on. Masama ata yun diba? My practice kasi is always to turn off the aircon before turning off the engine....

turning off the engine 1st sisirain nun compressor mo in due time, kasi biglang hihinto... tsaka additional load agad yun sa batterya...

No. It is NOT ok to do this

Cardinal rule before shutting the engine off: Turn-Off Everything (radio, aircon, DVD, etc)

    You can't be that lazy

sir, my aircon technician said never to do it that way, kasi masisira daw yung clutch and compressor when you trun on the engine dahil biglang may load yung compressor, mapwepwersa daw yung compressor. hindi naman daw ganun kahirap mag on ng AC after starting the engine

Aren't newer cars with computers able to control/manage the start-up of the compressor until after the engine is switched ON and in idling speed? I don't practice this. I always turn OFF the aircon before I switch OFF the engine. But I'm just curious if new cars have this safety feature already.

Yes, boybi ... some new cars have electronic control for the A/C and will disable the compressor when engine is not running.

However, every manufacturer recommends that A/C should be turned off when not in use.

Other than being an additional electrical load for the battery while the engine is not running, and as additional mechanical load when the car is started, I really don't see why this practice could possibly cause any damage to the car. Sure, the car may have difficulty starting (which justifies manufacturer's advice), but there is nothing that would tend to break. You may have consumed more electrical energy and the starter operated with higher current to start the car, but both battery and starter are so durable, the additional load is peanuts.

I guess the recommendation was meant to avoid ... peanuts?

The lolo is correct.

My grandfather is like that.

Tsk tsk baluktot at pinapanindigan talaga... hahaha

    no no no no

Is it ok to leave the aircon on and turn off the engine?
