Help w/ my Overheating Honda!

I have my 01' Honda VTI-S A/T that is always overheating.

When at park, It took about 10 minutes before my temp meter goes to about 1/2 and thats the time when my fan starts to run.

But when I start running it will only took me about 250meters and my temperature gauge starts to rise up and engine overheats.
It has same behavior with or without using aircon.

Sometimes I have a high temperature and my fan arent running yet, and when it runs, it will run for about 5 seconds only and then it stop..

I had my fans checked, and both fans are working fine..
I already had my water sending unit(sensor) replaced but still same result.

Do you have an idea whats the problem with my car? And where is the best shop to have it fixed?

maybe you got a busted waterpump...kaya di nagccirculate coolant mo..

If the problem is in the water pump, why is it that my fan activation is abnormal? sometimes I have a high temperature and my fans are not running yet. And if it runs it will run only for about 5 seconds and it stop. Is that part of the symptoms of deffective waterpump?

thermostat siguro busted din kaya kahit high temp na di pa rin gana ang fan..or the fan motor is nearing its death

have your cooling system checked nalang, 6yrs na rin yan, para preventive maintenance na rin

Is the thermostat and the Water sending unit "sensor" different?

Because I already have my Sensor replaced.

if im not mistaken, the fan has its own thermostat, different from the coolant thermostat that opens to allow coolant to flow when the engine reaches optimal temp...

its pretty normal for electronic thermostats to fail at 5yr+ old cars..a/c thermostats din lagi nasisira na

have you checked the water/coolant level?

what is the condition of the water/coolant? turbid, brownish rust in color, calcification in the reservoir? if thats the case just have it Lavramon at Mancor (autotechnica)...


they are right with regards to the water pump,
also have the thermostat checked just incase ...

yes sir magkaiba po yun. incase magpapalit ka nung sending unit or sensor hanap ka na lang surplus. mas ok sya kesa dun sa mga replacement parts.

ang fan kasi sir nagbabase sa thermostat natin. kung sira ang waterpump di makaka ikot ang tubig papunta sa thermostat. kaya di mag o-on ang fan. (hope di magulo paliwanag ko).

The coolant temperature switch (thermostat) should be the first suspect. It serves to activate the radiator fan relay.

It can also be a symptom of defective radiator fan relay. Its contacts might be corroded which can cause delay of turn-on and premature turn-off. It loses contact due to heat from the electrical current, even if the themostat is still on. Although a rare case, you can try replacing the relay too, its not expensive.

A good mechanic can troubleshoot the circuit to determine which of the two (thermostat or relay) is defective or if in fact the circuit is operating properly and that the problem is somewhere else.

Ipa-check mo na lang sa casa tapos hingi ka ng detailed estimate. Tapos i-canvass mo sa labas yung mga parts then pagawa mo na lang sa ok na shop. San ba location mo sir?

like in th case of my corolla '91, i've notice that bgla nlng hindi umandar ung both fans ko. buti nlng at hindi nag-overheat at nkauwi ako s bhay. while checking it out, weve notice that nka-rekta plng ung fan at hindi nagauautomatic pag mainit na temp ng engine, we check it out and fine out that ung fan motor ko eh busted n kya palit kmi surplus lng about p500 same housing p dn tpos replace a new thermostat about p600 and then pinaayos ko n s electrician the connection and put a relay pra d magoverload at di mbusted and fuse. so far OK n cia and running good na... check mo n lng bro bka my shorted wirings k na and the conditions of ur fan motors...

sir input lang ito. nagkaroon din ako ng similar problem sa EK ko, naagapan ko ito agad kasi pag check ko ng engine after driving napansin ko na nakalobo na yung upper radiator hose ko na parang sasabog na longganisa. so alam ko na may problema. we removed the upper hose going to the engine nakita namin yung thermostat busted na so palit kami. after drive test, napansin namin nag oopen naman ang thermostat (makikita mo umaalon yung tubig sa ibabaw ng radiator) kaso yung radiator fan ayaw umandar. after namin mag palit ng thermoswitch ok na sya. nagoopen for few seconds then nag ooff na. depende siguro ito kung gaano kainit ang makina. sana makatulong ito.
