If you are using it on a tubular exhaust manifold for turbo applications, the manifold will crack sooner.

this can lessen the heat from the engine bay so cooler sya..kse the exhaust manifold/headers is making lot of HEAT tlga..so good option to.. kaso pag bagong kabit parang naamoy mo ung nasusunog na asbestos :D pero dont worry pag tumagal mawawala din.. wlang kaso yun..

Some are (I think the cheap ones) and some are not.

Asbestos kasi is a hazardous material AFAIK sicne it can cause respiratory diseases.

ThermoTec brand wraps aren't asbestos made. Asbestos has been banned since 1989 by the The Environmental Protection Agency for U.S. manufacturing, importation, processing, or distribution in commerce of many asbestos-containing product categories. I'm not sure if all other brands of wraps do contain asbestos tho'.

To be safe, get the Thermo Tec brand http://thermotec.com/tt/index.html

EDIT: by the way, walang amoy ang asbestos, you wont even know that you inhaled it until you get sick...very very sick.

all you need to find is the place to buy it gerald.

Asbestos can cause Asbestosis, as asbestos fibers are inhaled, they become trapped in the lung tissue. the body tries to dissolve the fibers by producing an Acid. this acid, du to chemical resistance of the fiber, does little damage to fiber, but scar the surrounding tissue. eventually, your lung will fail.
gerald, kung walang nagbebenta nito nyan sa pinas, I can buy you one here in States. Bigay mo na lang bayad sa utol kong anjan sa pinas. Dont worry, walang profit, just gonna do a fella car enthusiast a favor.
