does any of you experience this? i've kinda remedied this problem by adjusting the idling but it is just a short term solution...

    any insights into this?

kapatid, every car does this. Engine works harder when AC is on. Ang pagkakaiba na lang eh, how much harder does each engine works.

Nung naka stock down-pipe (catted) pa ako, ramdam ko talaga pag-iba takbo ng engine. Medyo nawala nung nag-upgrade ako ng 'bellmouth' 4" down-pipe from stock 2-1/4"

pakiramdam ko, mali reply ko  testing lang ako ng smilies, hehe

not familiar with mazda engines.. pero lahat na ng mga kotse ngayon ay fitted with an idle-up mechanism.. it is a sensor or a "switch" that would compensate the extra load given by turning your AC on. Pa-check mo to sa suki mong mechanic.. or kung DIYer ka... test mo kung naga-idle up pa kotse mo.. otherwise, you'll be experiencing the drop in idle.

Don't know much about Mazda engines, pero sa mga Mitsu kapag ganyan ang case eh normally they check the servo.

baka busted lang yung "sending unit" (basta ito yung nagtitrigger ng idle up) (ito rin nga ata yung servo sa mitsu) sa MB kasi vacuum controlled yan eh..well at least dun sa mga lumang MB... if you are near wizzards, you could get it checked there... or baka may suking shops ang mga protege members.. better dun.. para sigurado kang aprub ng protege people....

servo kit ata nga yung prob mo pare... nagkaganon din galant ko just this afternoon. nabilad kasi sa parking sa office, tapos tanghaling tapat pa! nagpaquote ako ng bagong servo kit sa mekaniko ko, 14k!!!!

pero sabi nya palamigin ko muna yung engine bay, i.e. pop the hood and leave it open tapos subukan ko i-start tonight kung may improvement. kung same symptoms parin, gonna have to burn 14k
