    Dear fellow tsikoters,

Does anybody know the major causes of insuffecient cooling in car aircon. My van with dual air con feels it needs some time to cool the cabin(hilaw) although kaya naman kahit puno pero compared to my sedan with single unit mas offensive ang cooling. System has been cleaned(i.e. pulldown evaporator and gauges pressure seems to point to normal). Hope you can help.

    -low freon
    -filter drier need replacement
    -expansion valve
The expansion valve is an intricate part 0f the aircon system. It causes the freon gas to expand which in effect cools the evaporator which is fanned by the blower to the cars aircon ducts. If the expansion valve is blocked the aircon system would not reach it's optimum cooling capacity or worse not be able to cool the evaporator at all. -shoven888 member of topgear phil

yung sa akin, stuck up a/c fan ang nakita ni mang mario two weeks ago kaya konti lang lamig ng a/c ko.
pinalitan ng brand new tapos general cleaning na rin ang ginawa and reload ng freon, ayos na! P2,400 ang nagastos ko. P700 daw kung palinis lang.

Starex 98, mine has twin sunroofs so the evaporator is different at the back

Is there a way to check this, because replacing the expansion valves requires once more pulling down the evaporators which is difficult work. By the way thanks to all who responded to my querie.

insufficient cooling of aircon radiators. sometimes akala natin kasi umi-ikot yung fans ok na. peru wala na palang hangin o sobrang hina na yung fan sa condensers...

Ok Thanks will check na rin. But i'm banking on what finchy 18 said about the expansion valves. I think the fans are ok because Medyo insignificant yung increase nung cooling when running on long stretches, It still can cool the cabin though even on a hot day and full of people, although will take longer and still different from my sedan.

what type of sunroofs do you have? are they the kind that you cant close? or does it have a curtain type system to totally block out the sun?

Apart from the glass, you can still close it with the material that is used for the ceiling, so i would say yes it could totally block the sun.

Thanks to all who responded in this thread. I used the van for 1 week straight and the cooling has improved well. I do'nt know what cuase it to improved but i'm very glad it did. The van can sustain cool cabin temperature even blower is just set at no. 1.
